    He was a member of the Church of England in case you were thinking he was a Puritan or Quaker or any of the other breakaway groups that were protesting the Church of England and fleeing to America to seek refuge from it. Even so, I believe he was a humble and godly man.

    Regardless of which Christian church he was a member of, he was Christian.
