There is no Socialism in California. It's merely mismanaged wealth.

I changed to GOP prior to the mexicans being such a pain in our behinds.

Are we bringing in the cream of Mexico? Do you think we are getting a balance share of scholars? Why can't they make it back home yet expect to make it here? They face a huge number of illegal aliens already hired by those living here.

CA makes it very hard to qualify for our socialism. But we do have a lot of it.

No you don't. What you have is a handful of people paying for thousands upon thousands. That's CAPITALISM.

You sound like winter is some kind of a horrible event.
In my opinion change of seasons is better than not having seasons - at least you notice the difference and notice time.
That’s probably why cultures from north generally did better (historically speaking) than cultures from south. In the south every day is pretty much the same every month, year or a decade.

Having said that - I do love vacationing south during winter - I just came back from Dominican Republic and cut my winter short a couple of weeks.

Another note - when you vacation in Florida during winter, do you notice that their weather channels tend to talk more about weather up north than local one? I always get a kick out of it! :)

Yes, that's weird huh. Winter is magical and beautiful. Spring is lush and green, and Autumn is perfection. Summer I can live without, but those three seasons alone make life very very sweet.

The worst climate on earth is one which is the same all year. It's incredibly uninspiring.

You are wrong, Americans hide their money in the Caribbean, in places like Nevis. I hope you are stinking filthy rich because you're doing a good job trying to protect their money lol

Who gives a tiny shiny rats hiny how beautiful a place is if you cant afford to live there? Low and middle class folks are leaving Cali in droves sir. It fascinates the hell out of me how cali and the northern states who scream from the rafters how the southern conservative states like Texas, Florida etc are all about the rich but then have taxed their people and businesses to such an extent they move here to the South to be able to eat. Housing? Same thing.

Did you even read your own sourced article?

The hypocrisy is nauseating. But quite amusing

I like Hawaii, thank you. Fiji and Rio are nice too. Hell, I find Florida and California really pleasant places but none of them change a lot.

Do you mean Antarctica? tt's dry valleys haven't seen rain in 2 million years, its weather changes geologically that's true. But nobody lives there, it's not really on the habitable earth IMO, nor is the deep Sahara, caravans notwithstanding.

The fact that Siberia now supports many millions means that we humans can get used to nearly anything. The worst climates, most admit, are the most CHANGEABLE and there we have an unalloyed winner. The worst weather on Earth, the most extremes and storms, the most hurricanes and tornadoes, is undoubtedly the 48 contiguous United States of America, none other.

Antarctica, anywhere on or near the Equator. It's the lack of seasons which is bad for humans. Four seasons is premium for human comfort and productivity (that is science, not opinion - though I happen to hold that opinion). I've lived in both - on the Equator, and also in four distinct seasons, and there is no comparison.

You probably already know, but extensive research has been conducted on optimal climates for human longevity, health, and productivity. The finding was something like 16c in the daytime, and below 10c at night. 16c is optimal for waking hours because it's not uncomfortably cold, but isn't warm enough to reduce energy and productivity. It also isn't warm enough to allow the proliferation of disease carrying insects and pathogens (as you will find in the tropics). The 'below 10c at night' has been found to provide the most sound and restorative sleep - crucial for maintaining health and maximum energy/productivity. A broader temperature range of between -5 and 20 (celcius) is ideal.

I lived in Southern CA. in the 90's. I joked that the under cover cops all drove Mercedes so they could blend in.
I don't know what it's like now, but then the companies just threw money at you until you could afford it.
    Best place I ever lived.

Yup, California is now FAR AND AWAY the worst when it comes to income separation.

The difference between rich and poor here is drastic and it can be separated by nothing more than a street. I knew buying in a high income area like Laguna however would make it so wealthy buyers would always be interested.

If you think the 90s was great, I can tell you it was much, much nicer in the 1950s. My father came in 1941 and he said it was even better before WW2.

In the 1950s, we had large farms all over the Los Angeles area. My sister lived at Buena Park and she had two horses where she lived. She lived with a relative of Mom's. Up my way in North Cal, we also had farms. It was great buying fresh fruit just picked.

I lived in Palos Verdes--well, Rolling Hills Estates to be exact. It was way out in the country. I was a kid back then and took care of the horses for the guy next door. Rode them all over the place.

My grandparents lived in La Habra. We used to drive by orange groves and dairy farms when we went to see them.

This from a guy who spends winter in Florida? Egads.

Old folks should live in places where they don't have to contend with icy sidewalks.

Florida? Winter? Sure. Spring? Okay. Summer? See ya.

Northern California? A great compromise. I lived in Napa. Now I divide time between Oregon, Vancouver in Canada, and travel.
