That's where context comes into play. Think of the Irish and the Potatoe famine, Swedes and religious persecution, and others. All of them, if it happened today, would have been considered migrants, refugees, or asylees today.

 

Democrats do seem to want to import the downfall of our nation. I suspect that the conflict is being whipped because so many progressive folks believe that this country must be punished for whatever past acts de jure... It's certainly self defeating.
