Probably close to zero. Chances are only a small percentage of your electricity is being produced from coal power. Modern coal power plants also have much lower mercury emissions than the old ones, like the ones still being built in China to supply energy to the factories that produce all our "energy-efficient" appliances.
Could Libs get any more stupid?

Mercury is a by-product of burning coal. The mercury ends up in the water and in the air....

    Thats a fact.

The funny thing that you global warming nuts do not understand is that the burden of proof is on you... To be honest you quite frankly cannot prove the theory of man made global warming, climate change, global climate disruption, blah blah blah whatever...

I found this thread entertaining it kept me chuckling. On a serious note though, how is the regular joe supposed to know whether theres global warming, climate change or whatever you want to call it.
The average joe relies on the media to tell us what the experts say and there lies the problem.Theres experts on both sides of the issue screaming fact that there is and isnt climate change. After so much of that kind of expert hemming and hawing the average joe shutsdown and could care less after that.
The average joe cant go by its getting too hot, because then we have a record breaking blizzard. They cant say theres more hurricanes because theres actually been less lately. The average guy doesnt get to fly over anti artica and the north pole and watch glaciers melting. So in the end the bottom line for most americans is this...ehhh maybe...I dunno, who cares, the morons that are supposed to know cant get it right. I think my ass is warming up I took a laxative...etc etc etc

not only that but coal is 1 part per million urianum. Coal is a crappy sorce of power. We would be the leader in nuclear energy if liberals didn't bend over backwards to shut it down. They say its to protect the enviroment, and I'm sure the average drone believes that too but those in the know, know the commie libs in power really could care less about the enviroment. They block nuclear energy to save the coal unions. Coal power is stupid and needs to go and should be gone but thanks to commie libs, coal power is here to stay

    - - - Updated - - -

    Nnnnooooooo

The REAL reason that no-one uses uranium is that it is EXPENSIVE

That might be true in America where Faux's "fair and balanced" has ended up with the fringe dwelling conspiracy theorists given the same air time as serious scientists

Hilarious you post someting the left doesnt like and its because you listen to the right wing media and fox news. If you post something the right doesnt like its because you listen to the leftwing ******* news. I guess its impossible for anyone to have a mind of their own and not carry water for left wing or right wing agendas.
I stand by my post that there are experts on both sides that tell us why they are right and the other guy is wrong and the average joe is left to deciding for himself. NO, I didnt hear that on foxnews or msnbc either.

The cost is about the same. If anything nuclear produces more bang for the buck and the fuel can be almost 100% recycled now days. Canada, Europe, Asia, all got lots of nuclear power. I know some celebs say nuclear power is the devil and like a typical drone, u just go out and repeat it, but if there was only some way to get you drones to take the blinders off. You'll see that protecting coal unions kills the US energy market

So, you believe that a "panel" consisting of say, 5 pre-eminent climatologists (an no Al Gore is NOT a climatologist) and an opposition that includes Lord Monckton is "fair and balanced"?

That is like saying that a panel of pre-eminent medical officers can be "balanced" by having a panel of homeopaths and naturopaths

What ive said I stated quite clearly, there are experts on BOTH sides of the issue claiming there is and there isnt. That leaves guys like me that are not scientists or climatologists or even weathermen to decide on their own. As long as theres record breaking cold and record blizzards im going to take the neutral position, until the experts get their heads together and come up with one answer.

Name the "scientists" on your side - be careful now because not all of them are total climate deniers.............

Bowerbird I cant specifically name anyone against nor for climate change. I do know that through my reading and watching the media I hear both sides of the issue. I do remember when it was leaked that climatologists lied about global warming and exaggerated it.
I have read enough information to know that I dont know if theres global warming or not and I believe you dont either.

Oh! I believe that these people

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change

Awful lot of scientists aren't there

But there are a few scientists on the denialist side - fewer each year though as most are ageing rapidly - but there are some

    Like my mate Willie Soon

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2011/jun/28/climate-change-sceptic-willie-soon

Oh! and the so called "lies" of climate gate proved to be the denialists lying about there being any falsification of anything at all......................

Sorry but youre not going to convince me theres global warming by continually posting the same rant. I will believe it when I believe it, until then I will remain a skeptic. There is enough blizzards and record breaking snowfalls and enough scientists who say its a contrived myth for me to remain neutral

Yep! While there is one snowflake in America there is no global warming - despite everywhere else in the world getting warmer

Despite melting glaciers and ice caps - America is still OK if there is just one snowflake

    Wait until summer

    (((((((((((((((((((((((((Sigh))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

And there is a difference between WEATHER and CLIMATE

Now given the right atmospheric conditions they could get snow at Alice Springs (Dead Centre Australia middle of HOT desert) But it would be a rare event and a WEATHER event - normal is the CLIMATE hot and dry

20 years ago, I had to drive all over the southwest - California, Nevada, New Mexico, West Texas, etc. Back then, I can remember all sorts of people telling me "I've never seen it so hot" and "it just keeps gettin' hotter every year". But now that the Dems have latched onto global warming as an issue, you'd think the ice sheets had extended all the way down to Sonora. It's getting so that you know you're onto something right when Republicans are denouncing it.

When it snows it has an effect on people. They think it is colder. That doesn't mean it is colder.

All and all it has been a pretty mild winter and February is always the worst month. Sometimes it snows in March...even here in Alabama.
2012 was the hottest year on record.

In the 1960s I lived in northern Indiana. Every year the lakes would freeze thick enough to drive a car on and they even placed an old car on the lake every year to take bets on when it would fall through.

In the late 80s i lived there once again...very little ice. Some years not enough to even walk on.
