yes, once again. Reading through the posts, which is more entertaining than posting, I am wondering what makes people write the things they do. But here is my question. Do you rant and rave like this away from the computer, do you call people nasty names, are you impolite, short tempered, are you yelling at those with whom you disagree, are you this rude in real life, or are you so only when hiding behind the anonymity of your computer? Would you be ashamed if your friends and family read some of your posts? Do you ever wonder, at the end of the day, what made you post the things you do?
A computer is like an automobile. In a car you are on the road with other people, interacting with them but on a less than personal level. On a computer you are on the internet highway, interacting with people but on a less than personal level. Just as someone driving in his/her car will not think twice about flipping a bird at another driver who annoys him/her, but would never do the same in a social situation, a person on a computer thinks nothing of flipping a verbal bird at someone even though they wouldn't do the same thing in real life.
That's true. The may flip you, are bugger their noses like no one can see them. But on the internet, its almost like some (I'm guessing) develop a split personality? At least that's what I hope.
I'm not angry or short-tempered by nature, but like all human beings, I get angry at times. It's not limited to politics either (I don't talk about it much day to day).
When someone says something that makes absolutely no sense I tend to get rude. "Health care should be free." "Yes, it should but the (*)(*)(*)(*)ed selfish nurses want to get paid." "Democrats are so generous." "As long as it is with someone else's money." My boss was arguing that we should hire only people with college degrees as police officers. I was arguing for a job-related degree which for the police would be a very broad range. "No, I don't care if it's music history." I strolled over, stared at his diploma on the wall and said, "I understand. There are people who you'd never guess were bright if they didn't hang their diploma on the wall." As I left his set of offices I heard him ask his secretary if I'd insulted him again. I looked at the secretary and grinned and she said, "Yes, Chief, I thinki he insulted you." Or, the man with a Ph.D. who said, "Nothing is aboslute." "One plus one is two. That's absolute." "No, it isn't." How can you not get rude in the face of such stupidity. Or, "President Obama is brilliant, President Obama is sort of God, President Obama should be dictator for life." Aaaargh!
i find that the majority of the time i spend being a jerk is usually to one of few very good friends.. Then usually i can't help myself, and just start spewing out complete BS(much like this post.)
I am not an 100% trollin this website, I just like to troll conservatives and spineless liberals here. My favourite trolls are used in christian websites.
I am the exact same on or off the internet. In both realms, I am rude and I like lesbian adult movies.
Ok, so let me throw in another question. Is it better to vent frustrations on the internet than in the real world?
Well, I haven't gotten any infractions (yet) so I like to think that I'm not too rude. I don't get mad at or dislike posters; I get mad and dislike posts. I selected "only the Internet" because I don't get the chance to politically debate many people in real life (hence why I came on this site). When I do, I basically say the same things I would say on here. However, for everything besides politics, I'm actually quite humble.
I am rarely rude,,it will come out here because people will be rude to me first, even then I try and hold back. However, yes if people are rude to me on the outside I will give it to them right back... I will joke here about M Obama only because it's funny...In this place you need a good laugh now and then...If I met her though,,, I would probably step on her toe... Seriously....
you have less chance of getting punched in the face or committing a crime.. but it probably hinders you in terms of your development as a person. If you can't voice frustrations in the "real world", then how do you expect to change your frustrations. Forums like these are a good place to vent excess frustrations that are either too insignificant to bring up in person, or too embarrassing to talk about in person.
