McCarthy: head lopped off by Gaetz

Jordan: endorsed by serial sexual abuser and 4 times indicted Trump, but then throws his support to Scalise after Scalise barely beat him in the Caucus vote.

Scalise: picked by a bare majority of his caucus, drops out the next day. Guess the mini-David Duke stuff was just too much even for some of those MAGA weirdos lurking through the halls of congress.

What a bunch of ******* and screaming banshees. When they actually have power, they have no idea how to administer is responsibly.

Meanwhile, only 5 sensible GOPers (which BTW don't exist anymore) need to support Democrat Jeffries for Speaker and then there will at least be stability in the House of Representatives. Because friends don't let friends drive drunk and right now, the GOP would not pass a breathalyzer test.

This kind of utter stupidity and egotism on the part of all of those MAGA nuts in the HOR will have electoral ramifications come November 2024.

    What a ****-show.

I am stocking up on popcorn and root-beer for all of this zany stuff.

Are we ready for Voterama Part Two? Is there a betting pool where one can guess the number of ballots they'll need?

How many Republicans would have to do the right thing and vote for the individual currently getting the most votes?

I'm not sure that's "the right thing" when the individual getting the most votes is Jim Jordan.

The right thing is for everybody to go to the floor, present their candidates, and whoever gets the most votes is the speaker. Of course that means it would be a Democrat. Because it's the only party managed by adults. But I'm just sayin' what "the right thing" would be.

President Trump attempted to overthrow our elected government, leading up to the ransacking of our capitol by extremist groups loyal to him on Jan. 6, 2021. President Trump stole classified documents and brought them to Mar-a-Lago when he left office. As President, Trump paid off a porn star to keep her quiet. Trump is being charged with 91 felonies within four criminal indictments.

Donald Trump is the ;leader of the Republican Party, and the leading Republican candidate for President.

Jim Jordan "has made pushing pro-Trump disinformation a priority for the GOP caucus. As the House Judiciary Committee chairman, he presides over a subcommittee on the supposed “weaponization” of the federal government that is mostly devoted to furthering Trump’s claim that the former president is a victim of the Deep State and facing four indictments only because of a vast conspiracy." https://www.motherjones.com/politic...he-house-january-6-donald-trump-mount-a-coup/

CNN reports, "House Republicans have picked Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan as their new speaker nominee Friday, but more than 50 Republicans voted against supporting him on the House floor – leaving the party still in disarray as it has been unable to elect a speaker in the 10 days since the historic ouster of Kevin McCarthy.

"Jordan sent the conference home for the weekend following Friday’s party votes, and lawmakers said he planned to use the time to speak with his opponents and try to win them over." Another vacation!

The forum's Republicans won't say a damn thing!

We can only conclude, this is exactly what they want. After all, they chose these two idiots.

"President Trump famously declared during his 2016 campaign that he loved the “poorly educated” because voters with lower levels of schooling delivered an overwhelming share of votes to him," the conservative Washington Times."

Republicans want to pick our next President and our legislature.

As stated many times, Trump is the leader of the Republican Party. Under his leadership, can Republicans govern?

CNN reports, "By failing to coalesce behind a candidate, the GOP conference has plunged the House into uncharted territory and effectively frozen the chamber at a time when major international and domestic crises loom, from Israel’s war against Hamas to Russia's aggression in Ukraine to a potential government shutdown in mid-November.

"Jordan or any other Republican speaker candidate can only afford to lose four GOP votes when the House votes for speaker, if all members are voting, because winning a speaker vote requires a majority of the full House (217 votes).

"Jordan then called a vote asking members if they would support him on the floor, in an effort to see if that could shrink his opposition. That vote, which was cast by secret ballot, was 152-55 – laying bare the long road ahead for Jordan’s speakership bid to succeed.

"Jordan has made a name for himself as a staunch ally of Donald Trump and was endorsed by the former president in his bid for the speakership. The Ohio Republican serves as chairman of the powerful House Judiciary Committee.

The problem for the House GOP is that it’s not clear anyone can lock down the 217 votes needed to win the gavel, raising questions over how and when the standoff over the speakership will last and at what cost. Republicans have been mired down in infighting that has left the House paralyzed with no clear path to elect a new speaker after Kevin McCarthy’s historic ouster. Tensions are boiling over among House Republicans frustrated at the impasse and concerned over the path forward. CNN

I almost feel bad for the R loyalists that are sticking with this s show purely out of, well, it’s either inertia or momentum, not real sure if there’s much difference.

Hahaha, nice! Somehow I think the Regan era this is your brain on drugs fried egg scene needs to be fitted in as well.

In this instance the phrase "they're paying the price" can be interpreted literally.

House speaker race injects chaos into high-dollar Republican fundraising

The messy race to elect the next Republican speaker of the House of Representatives is injecting chaos into the typically genteel world of high-dollar GOP fundraising, threatening to disrupt a vital element of the Republican strategy to maintain its House majority.

One faction of wealthy donors is intent on exacting revenge on the eight Republicans who voted with Democrats to oust former speaker Kevin McCarthy, according to people familiar with the matter.

“They are total pieces of s---,” said Andy Sabin, a longtime Republican donor and metalworks executive. Sabin told CNBC he’s encouraging fellow donors not to give or raise money for members like Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, who led the anti-McCarthy drive and Nancy Mace of South Carolina, a moderate who sided with hardliners against the California leader.

Only the drip, drip, drip of insanity ushered in by Trump could make the previously unimaginable act of Gym Jordan being considered for the role of Speaker not elicit an incredulous WTF! reaction. Lunacy on the Right has now been completely normalized.

While many here focus on what this will do to the "lefties" more should focus on what this is doing to our country.

I guess this shows that unlike Dem congress people who blindly vote as directed by their superiors, the GOP reps actually hold personal positions on the issues. Not that there ever was much doubt.

AN OUTHOUSE DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF CANNOT STAND.
The GOP conference faced whiplash this week after Scalise won an initial vote to become speaker nominee, only to drop out not long after as a result of entrenched opposition to his candidacy. The week ended with another vote, this time to make Jordan the new nominee. But it soon became clear that Jordan also faces a stiff wall of resistance.

The House remains effectively frozen as long as there is no speaker, a dire situation that comes as Congress faces a fast-approaching government funding deadline in mid-November and as crisis unfolds abroad in Ukraine and with Israel’s war against Hamas.

... McCarthy said on Friday, “It’s terrible!”

Republicans have grown increasingly frustrated that the conference has not been able to coalesce around a candidate. Some are openly questioning whether anyone can reach 217 votes.

"Mr Republican," Congressman George Santos (aka "Anthony Devolder" aka "Katira"), must be very embarrassed by his affiliation with the aggressively impotent GOP devaluing America.

Perchance, the wrecking crew can coalesce behind him - despite it hurting his chances to be Trump's running mate.
