McCarthy did, Dems tried to work with McCarthy, he refused it - McCarthy thought he could win without dems

It's humourous yet sad to see righties trying to blame abject Republican failures on Democrats.

But alas, this is the way of MAGA ignorance.

Well, they can't in all honesty, defend thebehavior of their own party so their fall back position is to blame the dems.

It might be a lot more productive , if they showed genuine interest in trying to work together for the county. ( you know , the job they were pu tin power to do) The MAGA thinking of ME first, grab more power at any cost, has seriously tainted what used to be a valid party.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that there isn’t one single principle the Republican Party can coalesce around to elect a Speaker. It’s been this way for quite some time. The Party of nothing, unmoored, drifting.

If they actually push sexual abuser enabler Jim Jordan through as Speaker, then I will have to project the D+ seat gains in the HOR upwards, and drastically at that. Up to +58 seats.

The unhinged Republican House of Frauds is adrift, rudderless and clueless lost in the stinking SWAMP of Xtofascist Cult adoration of the Golden Coif.

There is a saying that leaders emerge from crises...but this SELF INFLICTED flustercuck is DEMONSTRATING why the concept of "candidate quality" matters.

NONE of the racist MAGA rabble rousers have any leadership qualities and NONE of the SANE Republicans can garner any support from the Khaos Kaw-Kuss.

    Only ONE viable option left.

The SANE Republicans need to form a COALITION with the Dems in the House.

Gym is inching closer to holding the gavel. Proving unequivocally just how far to the Right the POT has moved over the years.

According to their own rules adjunct to the vacate rule, only 4 tries per nominee from the majority party are allowed. Gym has already failed the 1st try, he only gets three more and Marianne Miller-Meeks is likely to be a no in today's second round.

The Rs safest bet is a sage member like Tom Cole, but he is not maga enough for the frothing-at-the-mouthers.

    It's really quite the cluster****.

So, after 22 Republicans told Gym boy to pound sand in the second round, he is hot for more punishment in the third round.

Now he's failed twice and wants to try again. Most of the predictions I've seen indicate he will lose more votes the third time around. Words can't describe the magnitude of this MAGA failure.

Voting for the lesser evil is not "the right thing".

Voting your conscience is always appropriate.

The pubs are free to offer a candidate more people might agree on, or continue to flail about.

If Gym Jordan, who has never authored or sponsored a single bill, is their “conscience” then the whole party needs to be thrown out.

A sage figure from the last 20-25 years, who was both a Representative and a Senator and known to work beyond party lines, who is essentially in retirement and has no dog in this fight, who just wants to administer the House so that it can function, I believe such a person would receive at least 85% support from Democrats regardless of party and at least 40% of Republicans regardless of party.

The first person who comes to my mind is Daniel Coats from Indiana. Born in 1943, he turned 80 this year and is in excellent health. He, trained as a lawyer, was:

US Rep (R-IN-04) from 1981-1989, served before as an aide to Dan Quayle

US Ambassador to Germany (2001-2005) - I met him and his wife on July 4th, 2002 in Dresden, Germany. it ends up that his wife is in my family tree, and by extension, he is as well. Good man.

    US Senator (R-IN) 2011-2017

Chair of the Joint Economic Committee 2015-2017 as part of his work as a Senator.

DNI (Director of National Intelligence) under Trump, 2017-2019

Though a staunch Conservative, he has the ears and the respect of many a politician, their families and their staffs.

I, as a life-long Democrat, could get behind this guy as an interim solution to the GOP's disunity.

The republicans have a long history of being united in the opposition, then when in power fighting among themselves. That makes governing by the republicans almost impossible. They always split into factions.
