Government cannot be trusted with a registry of gun owners - the database that universal background checks would create.
The fact that Cruz passed the background check proves they are useless.

Why and how can gun crime soar decades after guns are banned? Think about it.

In reality, "they" cannot limit a criminal from possessing any type of fire arm or where they have them. Surely you know that.

Is your solution to ban guns?

In fact, the NRA trained black Americans to use firearms to resist the Klan and lynchings.

So you think The Independent and The Telegraph are just making it up - how about The Guardian?

“The Met said it believed availability of guns had increased. Similar increases in violent crime were being seen nationally, and Dick’s predecessor Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe had already warned in January that that “the warning lights are flashing red”.”
THE GUARDIAN, Met warns of steep rise in London gun and knife crime, By Vikram Dodd Police and crime correspondent, Wed 12 Apr ‘17.

    Just alt/right Fake News? ;-)

I take it you do not think a 24-year old should buy a gun, buy alcohol, buy cigarettes, join the military, buy an automobile, buy a house, and probably not have access to any inheritance. Should they be allowed to manage their own financial affairs? Alexander the Great had conquered much of the known world at 25. Einstein published his theory of special relativity at only 26. Watson published his theory of DNA at 25.
The average age of the mass shooters the past 20 years is 34. The biggest mass killing was by a guy 64 years old. Why would anyone penalize by removing one of their inalienable rights over 30 million people 19 to 25 in the US?

Better enforcement? That would help. Still, I think we need better enforcement tools for police.

You have voiced my fear: If we have laws but no one follows them, what then?

Perhaps this is why they put this specifically in the 2nd amendment?

    ......a well regulated militia....

A 24 year old should be subject to adult oversight, the same way a 16 year old is. Young people who enlist are subject to adult oversight from superior officers; and indeed is one reason enlistment has been a life-saver for many who came from chaotic homes. People under 25 absolutely should not vote.
You reference Alexander the Great at 25. That is the age a human,s frontal lobes become fully functional, according to science. Rigorous training for his adult role would have begun at the age of two; by 25 he was practically middle aged. That was a time where accelerated adult responsibilities were the cultural norm. The opposite is true at this place in time. From two to 10 years old, kids are twirling in glitter and playing games on their iPads. Aside from what may be supplied in the home, there is zero instruction in behavior or training life skills. A simple task like counting back change is daunting to a 20 year old. The young ones have been cheated out of judgment development and opportunities by coddling them, making play dates instead of letting them run free, keeping them locked up in a prison of virtual reality where the only things they really understand are their phones.

Frankly, I completely understand their anger.
What is more angering than helplessness and no guidance?

Places with strict gun control laws have no way of knowing how many people own guns.

And in the case of Cruz law enforcement was repeatedly informed of his electronic threats, a felony, and did nothing.

What's your solution? How do we fix schools like these? Do you think good teachers will work there?

"They" live in your country. When will you step up?
Given your comments, you're part of the problem. So, too, crooked inner city pols, indifferent voters outside the inner cities, etc. If you're not making up stuff about going into the inner city to save them, you wouldn't be alive if most of the people were against you.
My guess? You're some old guy whose event horizon is a couple of decades at most and you don't give a rat's rear what happens after that.

Like I said, try having it all your own way. When folks on the other side--only about one-third of American homes have firearms, down from more than half--decide they've had enough, they're going to run over you on the way to their solution.

Yours is the usual hysterical bullsh!t coming from the gun rights crowd. You jokers are going to run out of friends if you keep slamming those of us trying to help.
Good luck with intransigence. Gun ownership is dropping off.

You'd better hope not because they'll restrict your access to firearms.

Then why is the NRA getting worked up if it doesn't matter? Hint: it does.

Not at all. As you would know if you read my posts I do not even like legal guns. They are all a PIA to own. It is too bad they are necessary.
I cannot imagine ever going to the trouble of actually making one.

But then, I am not a criminal. I just Googled DIY gun and was astonished at how easy it is to find blue prints and parts for everything you can imagine. The genie is out and running wild.

BTW, this cheap little Sten Gun is apparently not illegal.
