How does this relate to anything in my post?

Gun control laws only matter to law abiding citizens. Outlaws will always have guns. Even the hard headed Brits have discovered that fact of life - the hard way.

“A hundred years and many gun laws later, the BBC reported online in January
that England's firearms restrictions, including its 1997 ban on handguns, "seem
to have had little impact in the criminal underworld". Guns are virtually outlawed,
and, as the old US slogan predicted, **only outlaws have guns**. And what is worse,
they are increasingly ready to use them.

Five centuries of growing civility ended in 1954. Violent
crime has been climbing ever since, and armed crime -
with banned handguns the weapon of choice - is now
described as "rocketing". In the two years following the
ban, the use of handguns in crime rose by 40 per cent.
From April to November 2001 the number of people
robbed at gunpoint in London rose 53 per cent.

In the course of a few days last summer, gun-toting
men burst into a court and freed two defendants; a
shooting outside a London nightclub left five women
and three men wounded; and two men were
machine-gunned to death in a residential
neighbourhood of north London. On New Year's Day,
2002, a 19-year-old girl walking on a main street in east London was shot in the
head by a thief after her mobile phone.” FINANCIAL TIMES, Trigger unhappy, BY Joyce Lee Malcolm, Jun 21, 2002.

The UK has strict gun control - even a gun ban. Surely you know that.

So, you are saying that The Telegraph, The Independent and The Guardian are just making things up?
Like the NYT, CBS and the MSM over here? ;-)

Do your stats contradict what UK press has reported? Did The Telegraph, The Independent, and The Guardian all somehow get it wrong?

Perhaps you should share your stats with them and demand a correction.

And they would accept 12-year olds on the sly.

Not to quibble but the difference between 36% and 42% of American households makes a difference of over 7.5 million households or almost 19 million people.

All this is why I want to have a national gun permit instead of licensing firearms.

Police should have the power to confiscate guns from people who shouldn't have them, and prosecute felons and gang members with guns.

Yes, and we kill people at many, many times the UK rate. Canada has gun deaths at 19% the rate in this country. They control handguns.

Canada and the UK have always had lower murder rates, including before they banned guns.

    Enough spin, guy.

Yes, there are many examples of those who have done themselves in and earned a Darwin Award. It's not funny.

The rate of gun deaths in the UK is 0.23 per 100,000 people (2011) and our rate is 10.5 (2014). Our gun death rate is 46 times as high.

    Maybe they're doing something right.

It actually went up after they banned guns as did the rate of home burglaries. Burglars get much bolder when they know that there are no firearms in any house they may choose. Remember the reported in Connecticut IIRC who published a map showing which houses had gun owners. The anti gun people were outraged because that was a map for burglars to use. Too funny.

I picked a number in the middle of survey results I saw. I'm interested in why there's a rather large difference.

The murder rate all the way back to 1800 was basically the same in the UK as it is now pretty much.

Gun laws have nothing to do with the (former) lack of violence in Europe.

Canada has controlled handguns since the 19th Century. Maybe that has something to do with the homicide rate.
