Did you consider this news? You can look at our prison system and see the same thing. Some males who are away from women for long times do use other methods to release their sexual tension. Some do it for dominance and some do it just for release. The newsworthy part about the Greeks was that they were not hung up about it. Only today's fearful homophobes get hung up on it.

Obviously the answer is that these Greeks were still men in every social aspect of the word.

Are you trying to justify your own actions?

They understood their roles and consideed marriage a supplemental situation so all aspects of life could be lived to the fullest. A man who has to do his own laundry, cook his own meals, iron his own clothes and clean his own house doesn't have time to cure cancer or invent a better mousetrap.

I heard that we still had Neanderthal people among us. I just didn't know that they could write.

You're starting from an incorrect assumption - that the basis of marriage is love. The idea of marrying for love is a fairly modern concept. People can and do marry for other reasons.

Not sure what you're talking about here.

Such as? As far as I'm concerned, the only characterstic that identifies someone as being homosexual is their orientation toward the same sex. It's the only thing that all gay people share in common.

Professional opinions. Apart from that, nothing.

No, by way of your own admission, you never developed a close male friendship because of your own suspicions about others possibly being homosexual. You can't blame that on all homosexuals; I certainly had nothing to do with it.

You're certainly welcome to choose your friends however you please.

If you consider me a neanderthal, you'll understand why I don't understand this post fully. Somehow society worldwide designated a set of male and female roles long ago in almost every culture. Almost everyone went along with their roles with little more than grumbling. only in recent generations and in some cultures have notable masses of the population crossed the line in more than a few particulars of those roles until the middle ground of gender-neutral activity became commonplace.
Society still rewards the most manly of men by making them millionaires for playing games or aggressively running businesses. The most feminine of women are overlooked outside their family and only masculine females are rewarded with great salaries and praise.
On the other hand feminized men first became minor celebrities through poetry, fashion design and art and several interviews on the Phil Donahue Show.
Those whose feminization included homosexuality passed from mentally ill into a protected minority status, giving them rights against discrimination and therefore increased visibility everywhere. When everywhere included representation in most movies and tv shows, the lifestyle associated with the inclination became big business, giving the illusion that their numbers were growing and the reality that their influence was rising.
In the media however only exaggerated representations of homosexuality could work. If a character on a tv show is gay, some scrap of dialogue in every episode has to tell uninitiated viewers that is so. Those of us who grew up rarely seeing a real homosexual naturally are confused. Confusion can't help but lead to fear and fear took a new form when the HIV virus (still understood by almost no one outside one element of the medical community) appeared.
    therefore it appears that:
Being mean to a homosexual can get you arrested,
Discriminating against a homosexual can get you fired or fined, and
Making a homosexual happy once can kill you.
I'm a plain-looking man and assume I have only sporadically been an object of lust even among young straight women. On those few occasions when I knew or suspected gay men were lusting after me I was uncomfortable, and when I was arrested the thought of being alone in a prison cell with a gay man made me visibly tremble, and since I was arrested for trying to kill a police officer in the line of duty, I knew I would get no help from the guards. They put me in solitary, where I wanted to be.
Explain to me why my fear-and those of others- is irrational.
Also tell me your opinion on the Greeks. Were they homosexuals who took a few days off a year to reproduce? Were they straight men who experimented and got a reputation? Were they so sexually driven that they had to do something every day with anyone who would cooperate? Was sex a recreational activity like wrestling, fun with any worthy accomplice?

I rejoined this thread because of comments back on pages 23 and 24 about what constitutes homosexuality. I see now you were not involved in that debate and it seems unresolved among those who were.
Every lesbian I've met has been unattractive, dressed in bland gender-neutral clothes, sported a boyish haircut and wore no makeup or jewelry.
Rosie O'Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres are not ugly women, but they're your 23rd choice for a prom date. I developed a theory. Explain why I'm wrong.
These young women were bypassed not only by desirable boys but from friendships with attractive straight girls (who want to be accompanied only by friends pretty enough to draw boys to them in groups.) These wallflowers had only the least satisfactory dates and weakest introductions to sex by the uninitiated boys who couldn't find a desirable girl either.
While drowning out their sorrows they pleasured each other and soon found a community of lesbians who could meet their physical desires and were masculine enough to fix their cars and strong enough to move furniture. What else do you need a man for?
Male homosexuals are more confusing because of their preferred careers. They become fashion designers and spend every day with physically perfect females making them look even better. They become hair dressers and get to touch the hair and faces of women they could never touch otherwise, making even the ugliest as presentable as possible. They become ballet dancers and have young athletic girls jumping into their arms every day.
Even those with regular jobs get to spend more time with more women (including married women) than most straight men could dream of.
When they hug and kiss a woman, no one pays attention.
I was often tempted to fake it just to get my hands on pretty women.
I think there are a lot of fakers.

This is a misleading statement. There is no federal protection from discrimination based on orientation, and many states have no such protections either (mine included).

    False

In some states, but not all.

    Bigoted propaganda.

If you engage in risky sexual practices with an infected person, and the same is therefore true of "making a heterosexual happy once".

I wasn't involved because I'm ignoring the troll that instigated that nonsensical debate.

You have probably met lesbians that you didn't know were lesbians, and you didn't notice because they didn't match your stereotype for how you expect lesbians to be.

Your speculation has no demonstrable foundation in fact. I have no obligation to explain to you why your theory is wrong; you have to convince me that it's right.

Science is not yet able to tell us exactly how orientation arises. The findings of research suggest possibilities around which credible theories can be formed, but they remain theories.

So stacking your theory up against actual scientific research, I find yours lacking any credibility.

    :roflol:

Your perception of homosexuality is very skewed.

My scientific investigation begins with observation.
I lust after most women i see including underage, prepubescent girls and elderly women. I have met lesbians. I have not yet lusted after a lesbian. straight men less honorable than I openly speak of lusting after many of the same women I lust after. The incomes attained by professionally attractive women I lust after is consistent with the idea that they are becoming rich only because straight men lust after them, therefore affirming that my inclinations are in the mainstream.
I have also observed that good-looking women hang out with other good-looking women, and so far all I've met have been openly straight. I don't know if I've ever met a group of homely women who had a pretty girl with them, or a group of pretty women who had an obviousy homely girl with them.
It is generally believed that incarcerated males begin to have sex with each other because there are no women available. Free women do not have that restriction, but unless they are willing to seek out designated men (not a common feminine trait) they might be lonely most of the time. If their sex drive is strong they seek an outlet and if another woman satisfies the outlet (since they probably share other interests) the drive is satisfied and the hard work of beautifying and seeking men is eliminated.
If I'm wrong about males please explain to me why a man who lusts after men wants to spend most of his non-sexual hours in the company of women. I've had a few jobs with no women present and I hated it.
Do you get stimulated touching men innocently? Do you get a thrill the first time you see a man in shorts? Does the privy member look attractive to you? Do you have a checklist of male celebrities you've seen naked?
I have more questions but they're in poor taste.

Yes, I do because you do not think that people evolve. Evidence: Somehow society worldwide designated a set of male and female roles long ago in almost every culture. Society still rewards the most manly of men by making them millionaires for playing games or aggressively running businesses. On the other hand feminized men first became minor celebrities through poetry, fashion design and art and several interviews on the Phil Donahue Show. Those whose feminization included homosexuality passed from mentally ill into a protected minority status, giving them rights against discrimination and therefore increased visibility everywhere. Those of us who grew up rarely seeing a real homosexual naturally are confused.

You think all gays are feminine. You have met gays but you never knew it. Just because the feminine gays were already discriminated against, they had nothing to lose in fighting for their rights. BTW there are many feminine men who are not gay but are discriminated against. Those gays who were not feminine had much to lose because of society rules - losing jobs, losing respect, being arrested and sometime losing their marriages. Gay orientation was never a mental problem but it talk a long time to change that issue.

On those few occasions when I knew or suspected gay men were lusting after me I was uncomfortable, and when I was arrested the thought of being alone in a prison cell with a gay man made me visibly tremble

Yes, we call that homophobia. You did not have to worry about gays in prisons. You needed to worry about the thugs that were straight.

Were they so sexually driven that they had to do something every day with anyone who would cooperate?

Since I already said that, I guess that you rather rant than read someone's post.

Was sex a recreational activity like wrestling, fun with any worthy accomplice?

Are you saying that wrestling gave you more that than just wrestling?

    ;
...and soon devolves into completely unscientific speculation based on your own biases.

Again, that's your bias talking. I'd rather spend my "non-sexual" hours with my partner, since our relationship is not based solely on sex. Apart from that, I'm largely anti-social and prefer to be alone.

But that's just me. There are gay men who like to spend time with female friends, and some who would rather hang with the guys. It's not a "gay thing", but a personal preference.

If we're talking about work, I'd much rather work with men.

I don't touch other people, and I'm not comfortable being touched. See what I said above about being anti-social.

Depends on whether I already find the man attractive. Do you get a "thrill" the first time you see a woman in shorts?

Depends on the specific member. LOL! Does a woman's "privy member" look attractive to you?

No. Do you have a checklist of female celebrities you've seen naked?

As if the above questions weren't.

I like to work with a majoity women environment so I can look at them.
during my loneliest single years most incidental contact was memorable, but when men touch me unnecessarily I feel uncomfortable and suspect their reasons.
Every new inch of the female anatomy that appears draws my attention. I got a thrill the fist time I saw my wife's scapulas. I fell in love with a woman who had the most beautiful achilles tendons I've ever seen and have had chest pains at times in the presence of great legs.
Women's special features come in a great vaiety and there is suspense in what each will look like.
One of my first internet project was to find nude photos of female celebrities, so I never have to look at most of them again.
You missed the joke at the end (which was also a hint at the next question I was thinking of.)

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen an OP so blatantly dishonest in this forum that didn't quote Infowars, WND, or NaturalNews. Congratulations, sec, on completely and utterly missing the point because you are a liar and a homophobe who will never understand why this sort of thing is meaningful.

The White House can be applauded for praising Jason Collins.
