Simple. That it went the long way around is a serious red flag that it was bound for Syria to whom Iran is 'banned' from selling oil. (Mind you, it pisses me off that it can be so 'banned.' The scenario reminds me of pre Pearl Harbour and US sanctions on Japan.)

We all know it was going to Syria. Why would the shipping route indicate that?

Why go all the way around South Africa when a simple cruisy trip up the Suez would do the trick much easier?

I don't know, that's what I'm asking you. Are you under the belief that the Egyptians would seize Iranian oil shipments to Syria?

Frankly, I'm surprised that the British would.

The Saudis seem to have some control.

Well, any vessell has to pass by the western beaches of Saudi Arabia before getting to the Suez. Ultimately of couse, the canal is controlled by Eqypt after Israel handed it back in 1973.

Whatever, Grace 1 chose quite deliberately to take the long route.

Okay, so you think that the Saudis might seize Iranian tankers in the Red Sea. I think that's extremely, extremely far-fetched. It's more likely, I think, that the Israelis would simply seize the tankers off the coast. I find this far-fetched, as well.

Yes, tankers go around Africa all the time.

So...why would an Iranian tanker which fuelled up in Iran..take the long route? Did you read my link?

    Just read it.

Again, why do we care? Everyone knows it was going to Syria. What are we establishing be determining the reason for the route, which even the article claims is uncertain?

I am establishing that everyone needs to know that the West is starving Iran, so when Iran hits back......don't bitch. Sure, Iran will ultimately come second...but when oh when....when will the West let the Arabs be Arabs in Arabia? We are there for two reasons only.........access to oil and to prop up Israel. If we took our foot off their throat, we can still acces oil...and Israel can move to Tasmania. It does not 'belong' there. Imagine how much the World would change if Israel was in Tasmania. Tell me why not!

Is this when Concord scurries off to Google to find out where Tasmania is?

Why would it matter where Tasmania is? And why would I be in favor of Jewish colonization of Tasmania as opposed to Jewish colonization of Palestine?

Brother, I can place every single country on the map. Well, not tiny islands, so I guess that's not quite true. I can also give you rough population estimates within those nations, explain demographic subsets and where they lie geographically in dozens of those nations. While I appreciate you giving me the opportunity to brag, I'm not sure why that matters here.

I am not talking about a 'colonisation.' Australia will be happy to host Israel in Tasmania and I'll bet no Tasmanian will complain. Did you know that way back in 1947/8, Tasmania was mooted as the 'promised land?'

Green is Israel. Blue is Tasmania.

    Doubt it.

Why, yes, I did know that. Do we want to play some kind of historical trivia game?

You doubt it? Ask California if it would like to have the powerhouse Israel is merge with it. Aussies will be happy to have all that military and IT muscle here. Just imagine......we could easily beat off those penguins and seals from Antarctica who seek to invade us. It'd keep those uppity Kiwis quiet too, you know.

What would that prove? I'm not interested in a pissing contest.

They wouldn't be merging, they'd be taking part of your land.

Why are we talking about this? It didn't happen, and it's not going to happen.

Oh look you stumbled onto my point. What is any of this proving?

No it's the EU which is putting the sanctions on Iran.

The EU has no sanctions on Iran. Sanctions are on Syria. And EU sanctions cant be put on foreign powers to trade with Syria.
