more silliness-you are the one who favors steps that lead to gun bans-like registration I oppose them all. Do you think you help your position of being anti gun by pretending people who oppose your anti gun schemes are "gun banners"?
there is supposed to be a right to own a gun, but both republicans and democrats have changed it into a privilege, same with voting once you do that it weakens the right for all of us, cause when you have to have the privilege to have a right, it's no longer a right, but a privilege that can be revoked
Which is the danger anytime someone seeks to encroach on rights. First they push that the State controls our rights then they push on restricting our rights, "for our own good".
How would you suggest that the government regulate how a 125 lb woman shall defend herself against 220 lb man? How would that government regulation be written?
They don't care because gun control isn't about saving lives, it's about controlling the population. They'd consider a loss of a few women to rape and strangulation-murder to be worth the cost of controlling society.
You describe a situation that can happen for anything. Should we have no new traffic laws because it could lead to all cars being banned?
So you do get my point. Suppose that our elected officials decide next month to ban all vehicles with larger than 4 cylinder motors. You don't like that decision because in your household you have a V8 pickup and a 6 cylinder SUV. So you decide to protest. You work on getting your friends and neighbors together to protest and write letters. But in the meantime the cops come with tow trucks and take your vehicles. You're given a Government check for fair value and now you can go and get one of those nice 4 cylinder cars. Do you have an argument worthy of making it to the SCOTUS? Maybe, but in the mean time you don't have the vehicles you wanted to own and you are stuck driving a 4 cylinder POS. Does any of this make it right? I don't know. Guess it just sucks to be you. Rich
Again....so? Does that mean I oppose all auto related laws because they will eventually all lead to cars being banned? That makes no sense
No, it does not necessarily man that you oppose all auto laws. You know very well what I am getting at. As I mentioned in an earlier post California has passed and Washington State is working on passing laws that make already legally owned firearms and/or firearms accessories illegal. Can a person fight it? Yes, but first they will have to comply with the new law or become a criminal. So today I own something and tomorrow it becomes illegal and I have to surrender it to the State. Now begins my fight, if I get lucky, all the way to the Supreme Court. That was my vehicle example: today you own it legally, tomorrow you can't. Edit: So you agree with this practice of making items illegal and then confiscating them?
Personally I don't feel a need to justify my gun ownership, morally or otherwise. Also, "most people" might "agree that it's ok for the government to regulate" self-defense but I do not agree. As for living in a "civilized society", that seems questionable to me.
Honest people know the violent crime rate is going down and has been for several years. https://www.americanprogress.org/is...-economic-benefits-of-reducing-violent-crime/
But if taking away all the guns in the world will save just one life then it is all worth it..........!!!
LOL. You are correctly reciting the LW rainbows and unicorns meme; "If we all just lay down our weapons, we could all live in peace". IMHO, the only people who seriously claim that meme are idealistic idiots (usually young adults) and liars (e.g. Hillary Clinton).
please show me where I have ever supported that position. Post number please. How you guys get to this place and lump everyone together is beyond me
Unless you are to have a UN Force to stop the murders, you are going to have to take some action against the cowboys soon, or most of you will be dead.
