That is a valid question with an answer, which as a professional lawman, I am uniquely qualified to answer. There are many ways to murder others, I saw this as a Constable, often, other methods besides firearms were used to murder others. Now in theory, any law abiding or non law abiding person can obtain firearms in a dizzying variety of methods. In Countries with very strict gun control and laws, you could sit in a Pub and following a set routine, order your drinks, and after the third drink, a bloke would sit next to you and direct you to a location where you could buy any type of Ordnance from a tiny revolver to a heavy machine gun. Here in America the majority of people with firearms are not problematic, illegal activities tend to be clumped together in categories, illegal drugs, illegal guns, Murders, gambling, Prostitot-tion, this is where you see the worst crimes as well as ancillary crimes to support a drug habit. So as you study the matter, you can understand the matter is not simply guns in a society long accustomed to commonly having firearms available, it is the segment of society that is involved in criminal behaviour, and need to be dealt with rather than avoid the real issues.
Simply, life goes on, the Bronze age finished, the Iron age began, all ages begin and die, and a new one is born. No big Woof.
Oooooh the irony, mate. http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/facts-about-your-planet.525106/#post-1068623489 This map shows countries (in white) that England has never invaded. There are only 22 (In the WORLD!)
Depends how prepared we are. Ideally, the end of the State and such 'government' as is needed run by workers' committees, dermocrfatically.
You'd be sitting in a pub here till the cows came home, matey. You can kill far more people with a bang-bang, and if you make them easily available far, far more will die. The root of the matter is capitalism, but its willingness to let working people die is highly relevant.
It won't collapse, but it could evolve. We've reached a technological limit at the moment. Example, while development of solar and wind power has made many great advancements, we're limited by battery power. It'd be great to cram a month's worth of energy into a single battery, but we can't. Similarly, the biggest hindrance to human advancement is renewable energy. With a virtually unlimited source of energy coupled with 3D printers and raw materials everyone on the planet can be fed, clothed and sheltered. However, since we're still limited by energy resources, nothing will change.
If it talks like a British Socialist and walks like a British Socialist, it's probably a British Socialist, mate.
Not if you don't have one it doesn't. The State is the central committee of the boss class, as you know.
I'm British , not English, kiddo. We were talking about countries England never invaded, so that you could catch up. I am not English and I don't live in England.
Well blimey and buggar an Englishmen! Brit, English, Redcoat. I thought we got rid of all those Imperiliast bastards.
What country? What predation. Without capitalism there won't be any, as you know. There ARE only the People.
Your side seems to have a hard time justifying gun ownership on purely ethical grounds. Noted. The government already regulates when, how, and were you can use deadly force to defend yourself. It varies from state to state but the regulation is in place. You seem to lack a basic understanding of social contract theory and its distinction between living in a state of nature and living in a civilized society.
So when capitalism collapses, the constructs know as countries disappear, leaving only collections of people who all work together for the common good? There won't be anyone who would attempt to take violent advantage of the lack of police or military?
We defeated the 'English' (German-speaking British) time and time again. until the Normans beat them in a week. They took two-hundred-years-plus over us. We conquered England at Bosworth, if we want to play these games of American bullshit. What point were you wanting to make?
Why is it necessary? If we lived in a civilized society, would there be any need for self defense at all? Why can't civilized society protect the people from predation?
Well blimey and buggar a bloody Brit! Dude, I know it must strike more people than just lil' ol' me that it's very odd for a socialist Englishman to come to America and spend 90% of his time bitching about Americans and their gun laws. American culture is different specifically because we tossed out people like you over 200 years ago. The fact you came crawling back for two World Wars and needed our protection against the ****ing Russians doesn't negate the fact England isn't the Imperialistic force it used to be.
