Humans are the apex predator of planet earth. Predators by nature are violent.
It just so happens that humans seem to save their most bloody predations for other humans (don't tell the plains buffalo I said that).

Our survival instincts require us to ensure we have appropriate resources. our tribalism requires us to defend what we believe is ours from others who would take it away from us.

Let's say homo sapiens have existed for about 250000 years and we are the end result (so far) of millions of years of evolution that has made us the most successful animal on the planet. Our invention of civilization (agriculture) is about 8000 years old, which is only 3% of the time we have existed and only about 0.2% of the existence of our homonid line.

Seems to me we need a little more time, a lilttle more technology and a little more understand before we can seriously chill out.

Or else what? How do you enforce it? What is the punishment to be for using them? We can't even keep nuke's out of N. Korea's hands. Criticizing them just doesn't seem to work.

If it's a radiation danger or otherwise very dangerous to our health.. I haven't heard of it being so, though.

You have first hand experience. There are many here that do no comprehend that the regular population of these countries live in an information starved censored world. They have no understanding of the impact that has on overall attitudes and how rampant rumour central is with all kinds of outrageous lies and distortions that cater to general prejudices and beliefs.

Just sayin'. We can't control what everyone else does, but we can make sure we don't use such weapons.

    http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=coal-ash-is-more-radioactive-than-nuclear-waste

"Among the surprising conclusions: the waste produced by coal plants is actually more radioactive than that generated by their nuclear counterparts. In fact, the fly ash emitted by a power plant—a by-product from burning coal for electricity—carries into the surrounding environment 100 times more radiation than a nuclear power plant producing the same amount of energy"

Makes worrying about a bit of depleted uranium pretty silly doesn't it?

Western nations have repeatedly urged Russia to block the sale, which they argue could complicate any international intervention in Syria’s escalating civil war.

    yes I bet they do!

So true. But that said, these people were the nicest people I have ever met on the face of the planet. Golly! I can't think of one Syrian I didn't like as they were all so kind and willing to help you out and pumped us for information about our nation and what was going on. They didn't hustle for tips and things were so cheap that ten bucks went half the day so we could throw it around. Last contact other than a couple of lazy guards at the DMZ was the cab driver to UN HQ to grab the jeep to Israel and I realized I didn't have a cent on me. I told the guy to wait while I ran up and he said 'No problem, have a good trip.'

Great people is all I can say. I took a French course downtown at the French Cultural Center and after class all the girls and guys would want to talk to me. ALl of it so open and easy going. Great place, I hope it ends well.

No Jack, you use it in a nuclear reactor until it has no more use for that purpose.

Golly, just stand behind me and write your questions on a little chalk board and my assistant will address them when they serve hot coca.

Kidding right? Depleted is used or a by product of the enriching process. Enriched is the product of the ... well, enriching process which is bringing up to speed uranium to serve a functional purpose.

    No.

What the hell do I know about nuclear energy, lol.

I managed to burn myself with a hot glue gun last night, does that offer insight?

And of course the Israelis have never targeted civilians or used Palestinian children as human shields. Both war crimes. Oh, wait...http://www.haaretz.com/news/idf-adm...-areas-in-lebanon-with-cluster-bombs-1.205418

Not very surprised to tell the truth.... Yours was nothing but an attempt to stir (*)(*)(*)(*)?
An old article from 7 years ago...... no related with the Palestinians at all...... and I have the feeling that you didnt even read the link you posted:

My orders were explicit to fire cluster bombs with extreme caution, and to avoid populated areas. <<<< can you read that??

Thanks to that action, most missiles form hezbullah that were pointed at Israel, were bombed up.

    EXCELLENT MOVE, good job.

    GO ON IDF!

Perhaps you should read the final paragraph-or didn't you make it that far?
Oh, and here is your brave and fearless IDF using small children for their protection. Defend that http://www.haaretz.com/news/idf-troops-used-11-year-old-boy-as-human-shield-in-gaza-1.272716

And so what if it's an old article? Israel has been committing war crimes since its inception.

Nope, coz was too long boring and biased, and attempt to stir and nothing more.
    Is so simple:
"you point at me with guns?
    I will act.
Do you hide between civilians while pointing at me with bombs?
I will tell you that you are a coward first, and then I'll act."

    Simple isnt it?

war crimes made up by you.

Lets talk about the war crimes of Hamas instead.....targeting civilians and exploding up in buses and restaurants....

Hate to be a pain but I don't really think that the Arab-Israeli conflict is black and white.

Israel has acted poorly in the past in a quite a few instances not saying that it's in the interests or the intent of most Israeli's. Because lets be honest most of us just want to be left to live our lives in a constructive fashion.

I refer to the 82 Lebanon war. Annexation of Arab owned land in West Bank. Illegal settlement building.

And yes Hamas and certain individuals in the West bank has done some pretty unethical things to say the least.

Israel faces two very serious problems in Gaza and the west bank.
Now the unfortunate thing is that Hamas although a terrorist org had been elected as the govt of Gaza.
I would say that it is far better to negotiate for recognition in exchange for peace.

The West Bank seems a little more complicated courtesy of the settlements. Now Israel has grown to roughly 8M people which is huge considering it's size and resources.
Now it's clear that in an ideal world the settlements would be dismantled and a proper govt be established in West bank.
But until a better solution is available then that's going to be a long way away.

Please bear with me on this. I know it's very general but I'd like to think that people here would like to see a solution to this rather than a protracted slug fight about whose fault it is.

Not easy to use, first time over, esp when I was gluing cork bark to the inside of a sweetie jar of 12inch high.

Oh wow thanks. Nice to see some enthusiasm for talking about problem solving rather than the problem itself.

I actually have to go away for about 2 weeks starting from tomorrow. Work plus exams.

What I will do is post a topic in "political opinions and beliefs" which will be entitled "Arab-Israeli conflict resolution"

I will put my proposals up and invite other to amend or add/subtract. I will also make it clear that it's not for debate of the causes of the conflict.
