No, your speculating now. How did Rex Grossman take the Bears to a Super Bowl? Doug Williams? NFL is littered with QBs who were not considered superstars taking their teams far. That is b/c of team chemistry and make up.
Second place in the AFC West still might get a playoff spot. The Bengals own the last spot at the moment, with the Broncos, Jets & Titans tied a game behind. Denver owns the head to head with the Jets & Bengals, so it's still a possibility that they get a wildcard. Your Raiders are looking pretty good now, although they need to put the ball in the end zone when given all those chances.
You can't be serious. One of the top 3 defenses in the history of the game, with 2 premier RBs is the reason they won a ring. Dilfer wasn't anything special that year. The Ravens were like last in their division in passing yards and completion percentage and something like 25th in the league. People sometimes forget a QB is one position on the field, there are 21 others that can make or break a team as well. As long as a QB doesn't turn the ball over a team can find success in other areas. Tim Tebow can't pass the ballworth a lick, and by the looks of it probably the worst starting QB in terms of passing in the NFL and Denver is finding success.
I say bring him back home to FL The Jags could use him and he'd be close to home and the fans would start buying Jaguar merchandise and ticket prices would rise. I'm no fan of Freeman but the Bucs need more than Tebow Miami could be a good match as well as long as "the chin" doesn't end up there. The Broncos are 5-1 since Tebow. That's an 83% winning record. I think many teams would be ecstatic about that. Do I think it's just Tebow; heck no. It takes a team to win a game but for some reason the Broncos are coming together as a team, and it's not a fluke.
If Raiders get healthy over next 2-4 weeks their offense will carry them into playoffs, We are the walking woulnded & third stringers & playing outta position substitutes & Cast offs picked up off the street ...
I had to pause it before OT. When I came back it was over, and my DVR would not play it back. I suppose it may be a shortcoming of Sunday NFL Ticket on DVR. Next time I will just hit the record button.
OK, I'm watching ESPN First Take & they're talking Tebow, but in my opinion they, & others, still miss key points about the situation. Sticking with his football critics, here are some facts either ignored or dismissed: 1) At this point in his very short career, he has much better stats than say, John Elway, at the same point in his career. Look it up. 2) Denver may arguably have the worst wide recieving corp in the league. 3) Does he have a very good completion pct. up to this point in the season(45.5%)? Obviously not, but in spot duty last season, he was at 50%, neither great nor horrible. At Florida, he was a career 66% passer. Yes, I get that was in college, but it was done in the SEC, the best conference in the country. I reject the notion that he can't become a more than adequate NFL % passer. Some things that will help make that happen - A full preseason as starter, which he hasn't had yet, more talent at the WR & TE positions, a more open playbook (some play action passes on 1st down, a moving pocket, less predictable QB draws, for example) & finally, be shown more confidence from Bronco upper management. I also believe TT would get more confidence also from a more open playbook, but might want to save that for next season. 4) The hue & cry from some Bronco fans & such for a real QB, have failed to notice that good QB's don't fall out of trees? There are very few good QB's that played for other teams before them doing well with their present team & at least some come from special circumstances - Cutler had a personality issue with his coach, Vick ended up in jail, Brees had a shoulder injury that pushed him out of S.D. & Carson Palmer held out in order to eventually get out of Cincy. Other teams got lucky & the retreads worked out, to various degrees - Fitzpatrick, Shaub, Cassel, Hasselback & Matt Moore. Every other QB that is doing well, was drafted by the team that they are doing well with. So what does all this mean? Odds are, It's unlikely that Denver will find the QB of it's dream through trade or free agency - nobody is going to let go a good QB just so the Broncos will have one. The draft? We all know it's hit or miss, no matter where your draft position is. I'll leave it at that for now.
Please, someone tell me again that Tim Tebow can't be an accurate passer!? If you watched the game, you saw that TT was downright spectacular with his throws today. Yes, I said spectacular. But the bottom line was that the Broncos won(& the Raiders lost).
Most NFL players do, that's why they're getting payed what they are. Everyone in this league has experienced success - everyone has a National Championship, Superbowl win, league titles, bla bla bla. But in terms of a NFL level QB, he's by no means special. I can think of a dozen or more NFL starters I'd rather have behind center.
Me too, but this guy wins too. So there is obviously something there. Out of 30 teams, how many "superstars" make up each roster? 5?
I dunno, depends on your definition of superstar. Are you talking about guys that put up the numbers? Or have a multimillion dollar contract? Or have name and face recognition wherever they go? For instance, the 2 highest payed players for Cleveland are a Guard and Tackle, but wouldn't get recognized by many people outside of Cleveland. Colt McCoy on the other hand will be recognized by any football fan around the US.
Don't get me wrong, Tebow seems like a nice guy and I have nothing against him...but there's a reason I wouldn't have him on my team. He has a horrible throwing motion and is not very accurate passing. And while he's a big time threat running the ball, the last thing I want to see would be my franchise QB taking 20+ hits a game. There's a reason the average RBs career is 3 years long.
Let's compare yesterdays Rodgers & Tebow's stats. Get me straight here, there is no comparison to the two in where they are as QB's, obviously. Rodgers has won a SB & is at the top of his game, maybe the best we've ever seen, arguably. Tebow is all but a rookie, with 10 CAREER starts, who happens to be 7-3 with a very mediocre team & receiving corp. But back to yesterdays stats: Who had more yds.? Rodgers 369-202. Who had more yds. per attempt? Tebow 13.5, Rodgers 8.0. TD's to INT's? Rodgers 4-1, Tebow 2-0. Completion %? Tebow 67%(10/15), Rodgers 61%(28/46). QB Rating? Tebow 149.3, Rodgers 106.2. Running the ball? Each had 4 attempts, Rodgers had 32 yds., Tebow had 13yds.. Thirteen yards? Boy, that's pretty bad for a strictly running QB! I don't wanna hear "but Rodgers was playing against the Giants defense, while Tebow was playing the horrible Vikings...". If you're paying attention, my team, the Giants, stink defending the pass. While I agree Tebow still needs work on his mechanics, he is & will continue, to improve. If given the chance.
Tebow is all but a rookie, with 10 CAREER starts on a mediocre football team, with mediocre receivers. But keep up the hate, if it makes you feel better. Yes, the jury is still out on whether he'll turn out to be a good/great QB, but people should be fair in their criticism. Because he doesn't have a "real ring" yet is downright nonsensical. By that logic, Marino was a bum in all of his YEARS playing QB.
Everything you just decided to write is irrevelant nonsense and comparing Tebow to Rodgers is a waste of everyone's time. Go ahead and compare their season stats and get back with me. Yards per game. TD passes per game. Completion %. Winning %. Enough said. Comparing Rodgers to Tebow is a joke on so many levels. You didn't even decide to mention GB receivers had 7 dropped passes yesterday. And the Vikings, by all accounts, are in the top 3 worst teams this year. Good grief. It's like comparing Muhammad Ali to Buster Douglas because the had a similar number of KOs. Utter nonsense.
if you want to look at things like an economist does with thje economy then it can be done because you look at just numbers. Tebow needs to gain experience and I don't think it was arjay's intent to compare them literally and he did make a disclaimer. There are the Tebow haters and always will be
