I doubt he will go to war over some islands. But yes, I could see a military conflict over an invasion of Japan, or an attack against them. If the US is willing to go to war over Taiwan, I think we would definitely go to war over Japan as well.

But I think that is probably true of most allies. Israel, Canada...probably even Mexico.

The F-22 works just fine. I work at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base. We get them in from time to time and they fly fine. Way to try to over blow something with media. By the way if you read your second source and last one you realize one claims that 2000 were ordered for production while the other stats "thank god there is only 160 of the 600 proposed" conflicting stories, I think so. The planes are more than a decade old and they have one crash. Thats hardly something to worry over. They are still flying and they still out-perform any other interceptor in the sky.

They were following the US lead? In what way? The US were given the Philipines as part of the Treaty of Paris after the Spanish-American war. The Japanese invaded China and slaughtered them. Where did Japan win a war and secure territory as part of a treaty exactly in thsi case? Last I checked the Japanese did defeat the Russians and achieved some territory through a treaty and nobody objected to it. The Russians recognized Korea as Japanese territory at this point. I think you are out of touch with reality. Japan,UK, and Germany are considered the closest allies of the USA. Re-check your history. The Japanese fully intended on defending the homeland to the last man. We had enough experiences fighting the Japanese in the pacific to know that the Japanese did not surrender. We had a planned invasion of Japan and the estimated costs of people were estimated in the millions. Instead we dropped 2 bombs and killed 500k. And convinced Hirihito that defending against nuclear weapons was too suicidal for even the Japanese. The atomic bomb saved millions of lives on both sides. Not to mention the US helped rebuild Japan after the war anyways so really you have no argument here. Would the Japanese have preferred the Soviets or Chinese conquer them? That was the only other option.

 

In my history i know that the majority of japanese were fine about end the war. There were still some nationalistic fanatics, but sooner or later they would have to face reality and drop their weapons. The problem was americans would have had to spend time and money to keep siege, so it was much, much more economically convenient to drop nukes and force them to surrender, you forced japan to choose immediately between annihilation and surrend, and of course they choose surrend.

Strategically speaking, it was a clever move, but morally very poor... so american gov told their citizens that it was all for the good of everyone they drop those horrendous weapons. And americans, being notoriously very smart, drank it all... that's the real history.

 

Maybe you can name the parts of Philippine territory annexed by China.
