These ladies are not just, flaunting it, but are serious athletes. Some recruited from Ladies Rugby, Football, Soccer leagues around the world. Their modified football has them playing, play after play that has to test stamina. Very little "dead time". Tackling seems to present a unique biomechanical challenge. You watch a guy get tackled and once the shoulders are redirected by the tackler, the guy goes down. Not so the ladies. They keep traveling in the momentum of their hips. Any LFL Fans here? Watch one. They are recruited from female rugby, football around the world. Watch a game and observe how much of that two hours is "active" playing. They play hard and rough and do show some talent, such as pass receivers doing some fantastic leaps. And they are going international with leagues in OZ-Land, China - Japan, and Europe. AND - it is much more fun to watch than the male equivalent which has so much "rest" time in a game. Moi r > g No
After bumping into their games on youtube, I became a big fan. Sadly, it wasn't until after the season just ended. My faves are Dakota Hughes, who is actually quite good at QB and does NOT throw like a girl, alli alberts, and delaney hall - all quite the babes but good players. My expectation is that within 5 years the league will begin dressing the ladies in, well, more suitable football attire and the league will go legit. Go Steam!
Not Powder Puff Football. How many here could take one of these players on in a scrimmage and not get killed or broken. They are recruited from Aussie and Canadian Women's Football and Rugby teams in some cases. The biodynamics of a female are so different. Men travel in the direction of their shoulders, women in the direction of their hips. Waist tackling does not stop them except in numbers. Really wondrous. I wish I understood the breast guards. I feel sorry for the women who play this game having to play "dress up" in revealing costumes for the sport to get any recognition. For lack of a better word, I find it degrading. Can't they wear normal football uniforms instead of what amounts to fancy underwear? Oh right, males wouldn't watch it then, they have to be able to stimulate in order to get a fan base.
During WW2 there were women's baseball teams and their skirts and acrobatics was considered, naughty. Unlike the baseball players, I believe those LFL ladies are wearing skin protecting suits. And let's face it, some forms in nature such as the curve of a dove's back or a woman are beautiful. No attempt by women to have their objectifying of a man's body has been successful, really, has it. So Viva La Differance and Bravo Ladies. It's degrading. Might as well install poles instead of goal posts and have the fans throw dollar bills. You can't put them in normal football uniforms without tassels and garter belts? I have nothing against strip clubs and bikini contests where women are free to objectify themselves in exchange for cash money; however these gals are dedicated athletes needing a paycheck. The only way to get that paycheck is to dress them in what is essentially underwear and shoulder pads...so maybe men might watch it then.
An appropriate uniform should be a football jersey and pants...not underwear. Would you attend a game? It would be equivalent to going to Hooters.

My complaint isn't that it's just vile and disgusting, my issue is those who want to save the world from themselves types that think you're protecting someone from themselves. They signed the contract. They know what they are signing up for. If the don't like it, they could go play W-NFL
I don't recall stating in my replies to ban or censor the sport. I said I felt sorry for the women. These are athletes, like it or not. They trained like any other athlete and their reward is a skimpy outfit that does not in the least protect them from tackles and contusions. They deserve better...I would like their opinion if they would prefer a more normal football uniform compared to the underwear. If they prefer the underwear, well then any objectification is on them. I've a feeling they wear the underwear because that's what puts men in the seats who help pay the team's bills including their salaries. There was a WPFL that has since folded. It lasted about 8 years. They wore normal football uniforms and I suppose the males who would be more apt to watch didn't like it. It took putting them in skimpy outfits for men to take notice...to me that's what is sad. For a gal to play football professionally, it's either play semi-pro with less money but more suitable protection, or the Lingerie league and play in your underwear.
As an addendum and as my last comment on the topic, though others are free to comment on my comment... These gals are not even paid, it turns out. What sustains these athletes is simply competition. So basically the premise is no different than Hooters....it's not about the wings, it's about young gals in short shorts and cleavage...at least a Hooters waitress gets paid. These LFL players don't get a dime and I'm guessing the hits and tackles are real....one broke her neck. They are on their own for medical coverage. So why endure this, the pain and exploitation, for no monetary compensation? They enjoy the physicality and the competition.

These gals dedicate themselves to physical fitness and improving their football skills...only to be told their value as athletes is determined upon how good they look in underwear. All of them have real jobs, and play in the LFL because they enjoy the competition They do this because they enjoy the sport. I admire them much more than I do most professional athletes who, for example, charge a fan $25 for an autograph. They are essentially spoiled brats out of touch with their fan base. These ladies are at least genuine. The guy selling beer in the stands is making more money than the athlete on the field in an LFL game. Out of respect for their dedication, I'd like to see them in regular football uniforms and an attempt to legitimize their sport. If for no other reason then their safety. One gal had her neck broken, their athleticism is not faked, the tackles and hits are real. .
And the ump gets paid more than I do at my church softball league game, yet I'm the one out there risking my ACL, not him. Choices are made in life. I could ump softball, or play.... I choose to play these girls can choose to sell the beer in the stands, or play... they chose play.
They deserve a league that wil respect their talent, but a league like that probably wouldn't last. In order to play the sport they like, they have to sell their sex appeal along with their talent. Are you forced to wear assless chaps to play softball? Some of the gals were told to literally stop covering up so much flesh with protective gear. Now if they want to enter a bikini contest and make calendars on their own time, that is on them, but I still believe this sport exploits female athletes and tells them their skills have no value unless flesh is peddeled along with it. I believe these gals would prefer normal uniforms and a credible league if they had a choice, if indeed they are givng their time and effort for no compensation. The problem is very few males would pay to see that, what they'll pay to see is flesh. It's a shame, because women have the athletic talent now that does not need window dressing to compensate. The ladies World Cup finals had a strong showing in viewer ratings and they weren't asked to dress provocatively in the process.
Hopefully you won't have to make the choice to play in their uniforms. They are grown women, they can do as they please to earn a paycheck and stay fit.
They don't get paid. They practice 3 times a week and travel for games with zero compensation. The league owner has told them...nobody watches you to play football. The guy is a flesh peddler basically. Can anyone name one athlete who plays this game? One star? I'm betting they rotate different players in every year and they realize no one watches to see them actually play the game they are dedicating themselves towards getting better. I'm bettting it dawns on them they are basically just slabs of meat in shoulder pads. There is always someone naive to take their place and learn the same lesson.
Happens a lot with start up leagues. They do get room and board and travel paid for. The guy running the league seems to be a bit of a sleaze ball.
Here's the bottom line for me. These are unpaid athletes who play in their underwear without insurance. Yes, they make a choice to go out for the team. I'm not asking to ban the sport. These gals are exploited and perhaps they are naive and think it's glamourus to play in front of 4 - 6,000 fans. They deserve better. They deserve to be respected as athletes and given proper gear and uniforms. Young girls are inundated with the message their sense of worth is found only in their ability to sexualize themselves. Is it any wonder when they act out on this? This sport, if you want to call it that, isn't helping, and yes they make a choice to do this...I'm not denying that aspect of the issue. I still believe it exploits them, perhaps they are too naive to understand that just yet.
