It's understandable that you thought a reflex was a conscious action, but it wasn't. Policy should not be based upon emotional misinterpretations. But even if you thought it was, that was probably 20 weeks, well after the vast majority of abortions. And consciousness is possible soon after that, at which point abortion should be restricted.

If they're "persons" then the woman has every right to defend herself from the harm they cause by stopping this "person" any way they can :) :) :)

    Again.

If a woman chooses abortion, you are not ok with this

If voters choose abortion, you are ok with this

    HYPOCRACY.

Women have all the rights men have. Its my position that the defenseless unborn children have rights too. "Bodily autonomy" has limits, as we have seen with China Virus Mandates.

Free speech doesn't apply. Unlike abortion, there are rules in the Constitution about free speech (contained in the First Amendment). Slavery is abolished in the Constitution in the 13th Amendment. The Constitution describes the procedures for going to war and does not include the states having that power.

Perhaps you should initiate the action to generate a new Constitutional Amendment regarding abortion.

Unborn children are killed in abortion. That's what the procedure is all about.
Women DO have the same rights as anyone else. I agree.
No one "owns" anyone else. Unborn children included.

If the unborn child is causing harm to the mother, that's a whole different discussion. Most unborn kids don't present any danger to the mom. I'm sure when the voters are heard from, many states will define exceptions to the rules if the life of the mother is threatened.

A women seeking an abortion is hardly an unbiased voice to decide life or death for the unborn child

We aren't talking about women who already chosen to have an abortion.

If it comes up as issue needing a decision its already established that life of the unborn child isn't a big deal.

Say, maybe you can answer a question for me. I lived in an era when high school and college kids screwed like rabbits. We all knew to use a condom, a diaphragm, an IUD, or THE PILL. Unwanted pregnancies almost never happened. (I say "almost" because while I never even heard of one, I realize they must have happened... somewhere.) It was a time before AIDS so folks did the deed practically nonstop. Abortion was practically unheard of.

Why is it such a big deal now?

The life of the unborn child isn't a big deal? Wow... I'm not sure how to respond to that. A little bit of the Donbass right here in this forum. I never expected a disdain for human life.

You say the life of an unborn child is no big deal. That OPINION is opposed by millions that hold all human life SACRED. I'm dropping out here. Anyone that says the life of an unborn child isn't a big deal is so radical that we have no starting point for discussion. But its ok. The voters will decide. Have a nice day. I will block you now.

Of course you don't associate rights with women...

    Not use Birth control?
Because some women choose not to use them.....

    FoxHastings said:
OK, you want states to decide if women have the basic human right of bodily autonomy..... should states have the right to eliminate free speech?

Should the states decide if they have slavery ? Go to war ?

It's your position...it is not a fact...and anyway with rights comes restrictions...we cannot harm another without their consent...so YOU want to give a fetus MORE rights, super rights, over the BORN...

Which you must agree with :);)

Yes , it does...a right is a right is a right....

Yet Anti-Choicers want to bring it back for pregnant women !!! They want to take away women's right to their own bodies EXACTLY what happened to slaves !!!

The Constitution should provide ALL citizens protection from those who want to destroy their freedoms...you just want men and fetuses to have protection...

There is NO child murdered in abortion.... if there is DO call the police, it IS your civic duty.

There IS a correct answer....women have the same rights as anyone else.

NO, Anti-Choicers insist women do NOT have the right to bodily autonomy...they insist the government should own pregnant women..

IF fetuses are deemed "persons" then they should have to have the same restriction we all have ...we CANNOT use another's body parts to sustain our lives.....and PUHLEASE don't think earning a living with one's body has anything to do with "bodily autonomy"..

Uh, no , you do not agree...you do not think they have the right to their own bodies ...you think the government or you owns their bodies
You do not think women have the right to self defense.

A fetus is part of a woman's body...if she doesn't own it who does ? YOU ? The goverment?
Don't worry NO ANTI-CHOICER HAS EVER BEEN ABLE TO ANSWER THAT QUESTION .

Here is what women deal with, how thwey are harmed to some extent in every pregnamncy.....and every pregnancy has the risk of death

And if you truly have respect for women don't do what ignorant Anti-Choicers have done and pick "stretch marks" out of that list like they are the only harm..

Normal, frequent or expectable temporary side effects of pregnancy

      • exhaustion (weariness common from first weeks)
      • altered appetite and senses of taste and smell
      • nausea and vomiting (50% of women, first trimester)
      • heartburn and indigestion
      • constipation
      • weight gain
      • dizziness and light-headedness
      • bloating, swelling, fluid retention
      • hemmorhoids
      • abdominal cramps
      • yeast infections
      • congested, bloody nose
      • acne and mild skin disorders
      • skin discoloration (chloasma, face and abdomen)
      • mild to severe backache and strain
      • increased headaches
      • difficulty sleeping, and discomfort while sleeping
      • increased urination and incontinence
      • bleeding gums
      • pica
      • breast pain and discharge
      • swelling of joints, leg cramps, joint paininfection including from serious and potentially fatal disease
(pregnant women are immune suppressed compared with non-pregnant women, and are more susceptible to fungal and certain other diseases)
      • extreme pain on delivery
      • hormonal mood changes, including normal post-partum depression
      • continued post-partum exhaustion and recovery period (exacerbated if a c-section -- major surgery -- is required, sometimes taking up to a full year to fully recover)
Normal, expectable, or frequent PERMANENT side effects of pregnancy:

      • stretch marks (worse in younger women)
      • loose skin
      • permanent weight gain or redistribution
      • abdominal and vaginal muscle weakness
      • pelvic floor disorder (occurring in as many as 35% of middle-aged former child-bearers and 50% of elderly former child-bearers, associated with urinary and rectal incontinence, discomfort and reduced quality of life -- aka prolapsed utuerus, the malady sometimes badly fixed by the transvaginal mesh)
      • changes to breasts
      • increased foot size
      • varicose veins
      • scarring from episiotomy or c-section
      • other permanent aesthetic changes to the body (all of these are downplayed by women, because the culture values youth and beauty)

      • loss of dental and bone calcium (cavities and osteoporosis)
      • higher lifetime risk of developing Altzheimer's
      • newer research indicates microchimeric cells, other bi-directional exchanges of DNA, chromosomes, and other bodily material between fetus and mother (including with "unrelated" gestational surrogates)
    Occasional complications and side effects:

      • complications of episiotomy
      • hyperemesis gravidarum
      • temporary and permanent injury to back
      • severe scarring requiring later surgery
        (especially after additional pregnancies)
      • dropped (prolapsed) uterus (especially after additional pregnancies, and other pelvic floor weaknesses -- 11% of women, including cystocele, rectocele, and enterocele)
      • pre-eclampsia (edema and hypertension, the most common complication of pregnancy, associated with eclampsia, and affecting 7 - 10% of pregnancies)
      • eclampsia (convulsions, coma during pregnancy or labor, high risk of death)
      • gestational diabetes
      • placenta previa
      • anemia (which can be life-threatening)
      • thrombocytopenic purpura
      • severe cramping
      • embolism (blood clots)

      • diastasis recti, also torn abdominal muscles
      • mitral valve stenosis (most common cardiac complication)
      • serious infection and disease (e.g. increased risk of tuberculosis)
      • hormonal imbalance
      • ectopic pregnancy (risk of death)
      • broken bones (ribcage, "tail bone")
      • hemorrhage and
      • numerous other complications of delivery
      • refractory gastroesophageal reflux disease
      • aggravation of pre-pregnancy diseases and conditions (e.g. epilepsy is present in .5% of pregnant women, and the pregnancy alters drug metabolism and treatment prospects all the while it increases the number and frequency of seizures)
      • severe post-partum depression and psychosis
      • research now indicates a possible link between ovarian cancer and female fertility treatments, including "egg harvesting" from infertile women and donors
      • research also now indicates correlations between lower breast cancer survival rates and proximity in time to onset of cancer of last pregnancy
      • research also indicates a correlation between having six or more pregnancies and a risk of coronary and cardiovascular disease
    Less common (but serious) complications:

      • peripartum cardiomyopathy
      • cardiopulmonary arrest
      • magnesium toxicity
      • severe hypoxemia/acidosis
      • massive embolism
      • increased intracranial pressure, brainstem infarction
      • molar pregnancy, gestational trophoblastic disease
        (like a pregnancy-induced cancer)
      • malignant arrhythmia
      • circulatory collapse
      • placental abruption
      • obstetric fistula
    More permanent side effects:

LOL...no one's life is "sacred"....have you any idea what the history of the world contains? People NOT finding "life" very sacred at all....people finding other people no big deal...

And then there's those who don't find women's lives to be very important at all....
