I am looking to bugout in northern Idaho should economic collapse and world war III commences. [I believe it will.]

What can I expect in northern Idaho?

White people with guns. And paramilitary organizations too.
    And particular about their neighbors.
    Especially newbies.

    Ruby Ridge is in Idaho.
And even the "authorities" regret their behavior

    PBS American Experience. Ruby Ridge.
    Amazingly sympathetic to the victims.

Cold weather as you'll be clenched between Canadistan and Wyoming (the coldest place on Earth). Do you have solar panels? Get two generators too, diesel, and a petrol. It's gonna be cold.

And "Northern Idaho" ... isn't that like ... reservation? All of it?

There are a lot of native reservations like much of the United States but as for northern Idaho I don't believe all of it is reservation owned.

matches, lots of matches & coffee...
forget diesel/gasoline, it won't last long anyways, and the noise/smoke/smell with alert the hordes of your location, fuels also goes bad rather quickly these days(don't store well).

if you must have a generator than get lp/ng, and one of these:

    fill the tank

Well you are going to want to get out of the continental US as quickly as possible and Idaho gives you decent access to Canada and up towards Alaska.

That is really your only chance for survival if you are going it alone.

Everyone who stays in the US here will eventually be found out and overtaken by the roving gangs.

Either killed or forced to join them.

Remember that your main goal is to avoid people at all costs.

Thinking you are going to maintain a home by yourself without anyone attempting to take what you have is foolish and will put your life at risk.

My plan is to become a revolutionary and create a parallel newly founded state or government but I understand what you're saying all the same.

The absolute best idea is if you can learn how to sail and have access to a sailboat so you can take to the open sea.

Learn how to navigate, fish, convert water and you can literally live out there forever.

After a few weeks there won't be anyone with powered boats heading very far out to sea anymore.

You'll have complete safety, just learn some safe spots to avoid storms and you would be all set.

However if you can manage to get a decent group together then building a settlement, as long as you can defend it, would probably be the less stressful way to go.

Still, lots of politics involved with that scenario.

You might want to look at Kansas as well.
"Communications bunker with 8,800 sq. ft. of nuclear hardened underground floor-space. 13.1 acres m/l. 177 ft. tower with income potential. Structure is clean and ready for immediate use with some new paint and tile work. Creative financing possible with significant down payment.
    Price $750,000"

I can barely afford electricity to keep the lights on so that is definitely out of my price range.

Great idea Spooky. Exactly what I have planned, although not for WWIII. It's for the big earthquake, the mega 8.2 monster that's happened before in historical times. Of course, unnecessary if it occurs after I have left the state.

Having been through plenty of big earthquakes, I know what to expect.

48-72hrs of anarchy will mean roving bands of armed bad guys. The family knows to meet and get to the sailboat. Get out of town ASAP.

IMO you'll be one of the first to go. Especially since your broadcasting it on line.
Plus unless your from a very frigid place you won't make it past the first winter, imo.
I say this hoping I'm wrong of course and wish you all the best.

We won't be stashing a bunch of food for whoever kills us. Let em get theri own food.
We do garden and can to save money and know what we are eating as much as possible but not enough to feed us over a couple weeks.
I be damned if I'm going to work for whoever takes it from us. Let them grow their own food.

I had a 32-foot sailboat. If you go-it alone you will be fair game for pirates, and they are out there.

And if there is a mega-earthquake in the West, you had better have your sailboat in the Atlantic and vice versa.

I went to visit Yellowstone recently and I asked a ranger where she thought the best place to be would be if the Yellowstone supervolcano were to blow. I got a very interesting answer, and one that I already had in mind some time ago. Any guesses?

If you are really planning on moving to North Idaho then do your own research.
There was not one bit of usable information about Idaho contained in this thread.
