Luigi Mangione and Daniel Penny display the scale of acceptance for vigilante violence

Putting Penny and the insurance executive murderer in the same context is totally inappropriate. One was protecting the innocent from a crazed attacker, and the other is a a cold blooded murderer who wasted an amazing educational opportunity that many of us would have loved to have had.

 

Since when did protecting other people from imminent harm become vigilante violence?

 

Depending upon one's perspective, for example the Palestinian perspective, the Jews have been responsible for death and destruction, stealing of land and so much more. That "God" chose the Jews over others cannot be proved. Indeed, "God" cannot be proved. That is why faith is required for organized religion. One is required to believe all the dogma with no proof whatsoever. Only faith. Faith is the exact opposite of rational thinking. Faith is agreeing to engage in a fantasy.

Reality is that the Zionist Israelites are responsible for many things that are not good.

 

Now we're on the same page. Human failings or human deceptions? Organized religion always has its priest class, humans claiming power and authority over other humans. That doesn't work for me. If God exists, I agree with you that we are all his children, all equal. That God chose 1 tribe over all the others thousands of years ago is pure BS, pure sophistry.

 

I am definitely not trying to say that Rabbi Yeshua - Jesus supported vigilante justice but he did ask a question of the Scribes and Pharisees that did seem to refer to the precedent set in the time of the Machabees.

It seems to me that the general tendency to "turn the other cheek" is not meant to be a moral absolute that should include simply allowing evil people, such as the Greco - Syrian armies in the time of the Maccabees... or a Hamas or Hezbollah terrorist in 2023...... to be free to kill us and take our children to be slaves or hostages... ......... In other words.... I believe that this question by Rabbi Yeshua - Jesus hints that a true Christian or Jew could be a soldier in the I. D. F. .... or the USA army....... or a police officer... and could even kill an evil doer.... even on the Sabbath..... if they are threatening lives

Good point. Since American citizens have a right to self defense and that should be absolute, even when it comes to people destroying your property. DC Democrats like to take away citizen rights so they can control the population and dicate the law, mostly it is self serving. CA (D) Gavin Newsom is a perfect example with him banning Voter ID to be shown when you vote. They welcome fraud and corruption because then they can manipulate and control the system.

Citizens stopping criminals should be celebrated. Citizens helping each other and protecting themselves from the mentally ill, allowed to run free, should be expected. But even moreso, the leaders in those cities, like NYC, should be removing the mentally ill and felons from the streets and keeping them away from the general public.
