MAGA Republicans simply cannot govern

In the future, historians will look at this current House of Representatives and call it the most disfunctional governing body in perhaps the history of the USA.

As history records all of this, we will see video after video after video of MAGA Republicans doing everything they can to sabotage everything, from floor votes to crazy-assed, off-the rail committee meetings to wild extra-governmental activities.

Why, just last week I learned from Lauren Boebert that it's ok to be cruel, taunt, lie, claim to be a Christian and then give a guy a handjob during a musical performance, because Ultra-MAGA!

Yepp, every bit of this clown show will be preserved for posterity.

It may end up that a Republican will bring up the vacate issue, but not a MAGA Republican. Instead, it may be one of the 8 or 9 remaining sane Republicans who has sealed a deal with Hakeem Jeffries to make him Speaker just so the House can get stuff done.

As crazy as times are, this scenario is no longer just fantasy.

And even if the House starts to get it's **** together, it will take weeks to put through all 12 parts of the budget legislation and then it would go to conference between the House and the Senate (unless of course the House simply takes up the Senate version and is done with it), so we are looking at a government shutdown that will be far longer than just 35 days, it could easily stretch into Christmas and the longer it goes, the more parts of the Government will be shut down.

MAGA Republicans in congress = terrorists.

Well, the reason is simple. Ultra MAGAs, in the government and out of, are following every whim, knee jerk and corrupt breath of their flag bearer, the Maralago Menace, the Big Loser.

The lack of governance is the end result.

 

We don't need to wait for the historical perspective. Anyone paying attention can see the incompetence clearly right now!

 

That is because they want to rule, not govern.

The government won't "shut down". You people need to stop kidding yourselves.

 

That's no surprise. The MAGA politicians are mostly in it for show. It's a performance for them. They have no interest in building or governing because most have no experience in building or governing.

It should come as no surprise considering who they've modeled themselves after, perhaps the greatest political performance artist of modern times, who has managed to convince millions of people that the character he plays on TV and on social media and at his rallies is who he really is. For many, it goes beyond voting for Trump because they "like his policies", which is what the folks who know he's a rotten egg say to justify their support for him. They actually idolize him. He is a hero to them. And that's not even counting whatever segment of the population buys into that whole Q-anon Trump-is-saving-the-country-from-Democrat-pedophiles nonsense.

Conservatives can govern, but the MAGA movement is not a conservative movement and MAGA politicians are not conservatives. Conservatives may support it, but it's only because they have no better options. Even if they wanted an actual conservative, Trump is too popular right now for one to ever get popular enough to have a shot.The Democrats being a complete useless clusterfuck isn't helping things. They know Biden is too old and senile but they have literally no one else who wants to run who isn't a rabid drooling progressive moron. The only real hope this country has for a path forward is if moderate Republicans get elected.

Real conservatives will have to get rid of Kaanold Trump's trance-like hold over many in the Republican voting base if they ever want things to get back on track.

 

The Democrats want total control. So, if the Republicans don't want that, I call that a good thing.

 

Who’s kidding who? The government can’t stay open without funding and, the LoneyQ MAGrates are holding their breath until the country turns blue. And come election time they may find out they’ve succeeded. But at what cost?

They may be destroying themselves but by not doing their jobs they’re talking our nation down with them. AMERICANS see that making our government fail doesn’t mean our government is a failure. Are the Trump trials going to be out on hold, if there's a shutdown?

IF Democrats want “total control” it’s because republicans are out of control and, have no self control.

The ones in NY and Georgia, probably not. The Federal trials most likely will be affected.

 

Republicans don't even have control of their own party. They have enough votes to pass bills, but they can't even do that. Democrats can't be blamed for Republican shortcomings.

Yea, if the Republicans had not taken a thin majority in the House, there would have been no investigation of the Biden crime family wrong doing. We all know that needs to be ignored for the good of the plant because Joe Biden is a great environmentalist and, as he told us during the campaign, that he would be the most progressive president in history.

We don’t need the checks and balances the founders built into the constitution. In the modern world, we need the Uniparty. One way, one point of view, one party, the Democrats, FOREVER!

 

And how are the Republicans going to pass bills, controlling only the House with a thin majority?

 

Courts go on whether there is a shutdown or not. they are considered "essential" along with the DoD and a few other agencies. What will shut down are the IRS customer call centers, processing centers, audits, and so forh. The Criminal Investigation division is considered "essential" along with all other law enforcement agencies or divisions within agencies or departments. The other thing is that those "essential" workers will work, but they won't get paid until the funding is reauthorized. So, any government shutdown pretty much affects everyone. For instance, in 2013, when we had the government shutdown, the Alaskan crabbers could not go fishing because the federal fishing agency could not provide or issue certificates to go fish, or even the quota of crab to catch for each captain. A Deadlist Catch Captain named Keith Colburn who pretty much blamed all of Congress for the shutdown.

SSA, Medicare, national parks, and about 70% to 80% of the government workforce will be furloughed until there is a funding bill, either a short-term CR or actual bills passed. Even the DoD will have to wait for some things and cannot purchase anything since the DoD funding bill for FY 2023

 

The "investigation" would still have happened, but it would be "investigative reporting" by conservative websites and newspapers doing the investigation. Instead, now, those very same conservative websites and newspapers are just regurgitating what Comer has said and nothing else more.

 

According to Matt Gaetz, that would only happen if the hardline conservatives got everything they wanted. Nothing less. No compromise, etc.

To be honest, it frightens me. A Trump presidency was alarming enough. But now we are living through a time with one half of the legislative branch acting like petulant children. Not passing harmful bills. Having a collective temper tantrum with no regard for the consequences. Don't think for a moment our enemies aren't trying to come up with ways to perpetuate the madness.

 

Perhaps they could come up with one they can compromise and agree on.
Perhaps center Republicans and center democrats could agree on a compromise and the speaker would let it go to committee and then to the floor.
Perhaps they should allow bills proposed by Democrats to get in and out of committee and allow a floor debate, negotiations and vote.

It is all controlled by the Republicans and their leadership.

 

Yep, the freedom caucus members are bomb throwers who want to burn the whole thing down. They WANT government to shut down and Congress to do nothing, because the attitude of them and their voters is that the less government does, the better. The added benefit is that they can hurt the Biden economy with the shutdown, which they hope the voters will blame on Biden, rather then the MAGA GOP, so that their great leader can be re-elected in 2024. Of course, at the same time, the MAGA voters want their SS checks and Medicare to keep flowing.
