So my dear and lovely mother who I adore ever so much is turning FIFTY tomorrow! (And I will be 25 this year! Holy cow, she had me half her life ago!) Oh gosh, I got her a big bottle of her favorite wine and a lovely little card but I want to make a list of all the old people things she'll be needing soon (as a joke of course!) So far I have: Adult diapers Cane Pill Dispenser (Mon, Tues, Wed...) Haha! Dentures Denture Adhesive Dialysis Bird Seed Magnifying Glass and Readers Doilies Assisted Living Pamphlets Hahaha! I am sure there are so many more. Don't worry, she has a great sense of humor so she'll be cracking up. How many other things can I add to this list?
As a person getting ready to turn 49 here in a couple of weeks....I have to say...don't be too cocky here girl.....in no time and in a flash....it will be you. Its so amazing how quickly time goes by the older you get.
Oh I know! When I passed 21 it started to fly by real fast. But I am just teasing her. She'll think it's funny! Besides we both know she is a LOOONG ways away before she'll really need these things.
She will! If all those things are a list for the FUTURE---she's in pretty good shape. My husband isn't even 50 yet but has the dentures and I enjoy feeding the birds
What I actually want to do for her, which I wanted to for Christmas but couldn't find the time is put together a bunch of old photos from when my brother and I were kids with her. Gosh I am jealous though, my mom is so gorgeous but I take more after my dad. Poo. =(
Oh I love feeding the birds too. In fact I used to go to the park and just feed the ducks and geese but they outlawed it in my city recently. It's very calming to just sit and feed some pidgeons/doves and sit and watch them. I could do it all day.
I've actually never experienced that. Always though it would be a cool experience. My daughter and I do keep the bird feeder filled and scatter a good amount on the ground and watch them come in.
We get hummingbirds here a lot and my mom has several hummingbird feeders around her condo. They're so fun to watch and they are so territorial. There is always a male guarding the feeders and he'll chase off other males that come too close. When it's mating season though the territorial male will allow other females to come in and feed so that he can mate with them. Such charming little rascals for sure.
Having turned 50 myself back in '92 all I can say is, "don't blink." You'll soon see 50 looming yourself, then it will pass with the speed of a rocket, 60 will pass even faster, then 70. Kenny Chesney Oh, and BTW, 50 isn't old.
Oh I know it's not old, I just like to tease my mom cuz she teases me. Besides if you think you'll live to be 100 it's like you have a whole 'nother 50 years left to go! It's like starting at 1 again...sorta. xD
Hi Pasithea, I think it's nice that your Mother and yourself have such a good relationship, congrats. ...and Happy B'Day to her, with many healthy returns.
Happy b-day to her! Also, for the next one, make sure the card is in sarcastically large print. You could describe the slow progression of her dinner time and bedtime until earlier in the day: 50: 11 pm/ 6pm 60: 9 pm/5 pm 70: 7 pm/4 pm 80: What time is it? Where am I?
I wouldn't know yet! She had to work! =( But I will get to see her Monday!!! I'm going to give her her presents then and spend the day with her. =3 I miss her~
Get her a pair of running shoes. When you're her age she just may be able to thank you more than you can even imagine.
Funny you should mention that. My mom only recently started to gain a lot of weight, going from 135lbs to about 150-155 I think. She's been stressed out with my brothers stupid behavior lately (the older one's drug habit and the younger one's having sex at 16 with a girl who is not on the pill). She's always been fairly fit, even now.
