When you say "rampant materialism" and "general nihilism", do you really just mean "prosperity" and "individual freedom"?
None of this is a logical explanation as to why an individual should be held responsible for the actions of another individual simply because they share a similar skin pigmentation with one another. I never argued that an individual should be held responsible for the actions of another individual. I'm saying that nations make choices that affect them. Since nations are made up of individuals; and individuals essentially make national decisions, expect the consequences of these individual decisions to reward or punish individuals as a whole. Why do you think this? Point is that your all in this together. Don't expect the universe to feel sorry for you just because you never enslaved people. It's only giving you what you deserve (as a nation). No, but it is the reason why you fail to understand them.
