I lived in S. California. Great place that will become even better with less urban sprawl.

 

And how do you propose to eliminate this urban sprawl? More people means more roads, farmland, destruction of the environment, more congestion, more expensive infrastructure to maintain. Is California such a model success story with its current budget crisis, outrageous real estate costs, traffic issues, pollution etc.? Why did you decide to move out of southern California if it was such a great place? Didn't like the urban sprawl? Couldn't afford it?

 

This is only true when city planning is faulty.

Europe generally has better city planners, often making it a better place to live. California is better than many places in the US, even with its problems, but Europe still has certain advantages over it.

 

Well, hopefully in Europe they were able to apply their skillfull city planning to get rid of most traffic congestion and wall to wall subdivisions you see in southern California.

European city planning doesn't work well in America since Americans are heavily attached to the automobile. Americans would have to discover the bicycle and invent the train for European planning to work better in that part of the world.
