Bought a Bugera V22 a couple of years ago. It's been a good amp and quite comparable to my vintage Gibson Explorer and my Marshall ValveState.

There's alot of that kind of thing going on at the moment - metal does tend to experiment with mixing in different things, and particularly since Korn started playing with adding in dubstep style stuff a couple of albums ago it's been growing.

Thanks for the advice. I was using justinguitar.com. Like his teaching style and humor. Had to stop last week due to a losing encounter with an electric hedge trimmer. Should be good to go in a couple of weeks.

Song #32 from my rock concert World War II the Musical

Sung to the tune of Ooma Paloma Blanca

When the sun shines on the mountain, we’ll be near the beach called Sword.

It’s the great D-day invasion: Operation Overlord

    chorus

We’re gonna chase those Germans all the way back to Berlin.

We’re gonna whip those Germans. This time we’re going to win

Cause God’s on our side, and nothing beats him.

When the sun shines on the rooftops, we’ll be lying in the sand

Getting mowed down by the Germans. It’s ok. That’s how it’s planned.

    repeat chorus

When the sun’s high in the heavens, we’ll be crawling up the beach

Approaching the German pillbox, our objective now in reach.

    repeat chorus

When the sun sets in the west sky, we’ll be marching from the shore

Taking pris’ners by the hundreds, killing Germans by the score.

    repeat chorus

God’s on our side, and nothing beats him.

God’s on our side and nothing beats him.

I'm a professional musician and arranger. My instrument is double bass and
sometimes electric bass. Played 30 years in a professional orchestral and
am still playing Jazz every week and teaching privately. Some orchestral
    gigs as they pop up.

I took four years of piano up to the 6th grade. Moved to jr high school and was going to play piano in the orchestra but they could never get one moved over. The teacher knew I was starting to play guitar, the Beatles had just been on Ed Sullivan and my older brother was starting up a band, so he suggested I start playing bass, was actually a 3/4 as I was still pretty little. Took it for two years and really gave me a good start on guitar when I have played ever since and still gig on the weekends!

Do any of you do home recording? If so, what is your setup? Software, VSTi's, effects, instruments, etc...

I don't. The closest I come to it is with Finale. It's not a recording
software but I can create any type of musical group I want. I just
write the parts into the score and push play.

There's a way to record but I've not done it.

Well, I do some simple recording, with a T-Bone SC-1100 microphone, AKAI EIE Pro recording interface and the good old Audacity open source recording software.

I basically do simple acoustic guitar/vocals recordings of songs I like, trying to figure out how best to utilize my voice and the hardware to make more advanced arrangements.

I have been playing for nearly 50 years. Over that period of time I have learned classical guitar, blues, rock, folk, country, sacred music, and have even been called on to do the occasional polka. Have also played banjo, dobro, and lap steel. I still play lap steel and dobro, sold my banjo to get another guitar.

Just finished this song about my home town.
(Sung to the tune of King of the Road)

Prime space for sale or lease.

    Take it someone, pretty please.

    Empty buildings and parking lots:

    They look like funeral plots

    It’s crowded even so:

Poor people with nowhere to go.

This is one stressed city: Woonsocket RI.

    Nude dancers, bowling, jazz,

Is all the nightlife this town has.

Folks who look like famous men

Sing on stage here now and then.

    Drag queens and dancing groups,

Twice a year some acting troupes:.

That’s not enough to revive: Woonsocket RI.

You can get tattoos and haircuts in any style,

    Dunkin Donuts ev’ry mile.

That’s all this town offers: Woonsocket RI.

Lowe’s and Shaw’s left in disgrace.

Nothing came to take their place.

Small shops close all the time.

The only thing that thrives is crime.

    Small apartments with high rents,

Lots of churches but no one repents.

Even God won’t help us: Woonsocket RI.

Even God won’t help us: Woonsocket RI

I've played guitar for over 30 years and bass for over ten years. I just find it enjoyable. I've been in professional bands when I was younger but these days mostly I just like hanging out with good friends or family and having inpromptu jam sessions these days. I've also taught guitar.

Recently my niece said she wanted me to teach her how to play guitar. I've heard her play drums and she can keep a beat. And she's very intelligent. However, she lives 100 miles away.

I come from a musical family/background and pretty much grew up in a recording studio. I'm a trained sound engineer/producer.. I haven't done much in the last couple of years tho. When I was younger I was turning out 5-6 albums a year.... I did a lot of instrumental stuff of my own (and custom stuff) and sold it to artists and even movie producers for their films when I wasn't producing other peoples stuff. I certainly made a living off of it. I suppose I have been taking a break from it tho...

As far as my background, both sides of my family are artists - hell my parents met because my uncle was looking for a keyboard player for his band and and placed an ad in the paper, she replied and met my dad who had his own commercially successful band at the time. So music has always been in my life.

Here is my dads band circa 1977:

    They were pretty good eh?

I like the rest of you, have been playing music for a long time. Now 48, I've been in numerous bands and played up and down the East Coast. Now I mostly record and engineer / mix / produce for a few projects as well as my own stuff. It's a nice hobby - I just got tired of the gigs and moving what equates to your entire living room 3 times a night. I find it therapeutic - it also is a great outlet for creativity when the day job is anything but creative. I play both elec/acoustic guitar and bass, as well as a little mando and have a bit of a collection which the wife is keen for me to pare down.

    Here's a few tunes I've done:

You should make the songs easier for us to hear, without having to sign up to dropbox.

I use Logic 9 on a Mac. I've been resisting the move to Logic X. A few tube condensers, Kontact 9 and a few mediocre midi inputs. Superior Drummer for some of it though I think those tunes we used live drums. Nothing too special though most of the newer stuff sounds much better. Here's one that's much newer - the clarity and sounds are much easier to record and the mixing is much easier.

    It's a remake of a remake...

Sorry about that - but it's the easiest way to share stuff between other musician friends of mine so we just swap that way. The other link I just posted should work without a sign up.

Cool, never done any home recording but recently go a Behringer 8 in four out interface. Tracktion and Audacity loaded but haven't used yet. Mainly just to record band practice and get a demo CD and tracks on a ReverbNation page.
