More and more I'm stepping up and urging people to throw off the chains of the PC left; some of them chains so subtle, I didn't recognize them. I'm opening my own eyes ever wider.

Thought control ~ more than a theory or a wish of the left. We have it.
It's the fear of being called a homophobe or a bigot. And most of all, it's "White guilt".

Now I don't suffer from these restraints. I hate PC and those of you who know me know it. If someone calls me a racist, bigot, or homophobe, I'll toe right up and tell them to play that card somewhere else.

But I've been realizing how pervasive this is.

    "White guilt". What is that???
It's a self imposed shame that the left has foisted on any White person who isn't strong enough to see the toxicity of it and reject it. Same thing with gay issues, so called "global warming" or any other leftist looney-tunes view. And there are millions who've been infected by it.

Many are on the left; it's how the hard left controls the morons that gleefully play along without a clue. The insidious nature of the tactic is that people don't even realize they've been zombified by it.

And the underlying message is "go along or get hammered".

    Well.........NO.

It's snake venom to common sense. The impact on society is toxic. We're all the worse for it because it's bullying and leads to resentment and divisiveness.

A person is the owner of their own mind; the owner of their own thoughts. Those thoughts my be flawed or brilliant, but the privacy of one's own mind is their own. If a person is rude or harmful to others that is a wholly different matter. We should all be civil to each other.
But no one has to like everyone or agree with everything. In fact this point is moot in a sane world. But the insanity of leftist "animal farm" reasoning has gone too far.

    And I say NO MORE.

I won't go along with it and neither should you.

And I would agree with you, if only you weren't equating political correctness with leftism.

Any kind of political correctness enforcement is wrong. That goes for right-wing political correction as well.

I'm white, I have no personal guilt for shameful things that happened centuries ago. I do admit that if they were wrong and shameful that there were just that though.

I do not see how censoring comments or words like racist, bigot, and homophobe wouldn't fall under exactly what you are complaining about, being PC. People should be able to speak what they feel is the truth, just not to be upset when someone throws some back. An adult is responsible for the words they choose to have come out of their mouths or the typing of their keyboard.

The accusation of the left controlling our thoughts coming from a conservative.

    Irony anyone?

I think the deflect and deny is coming from racists who are upset being called out on the racist remarks. If someone called me a racist it wouldn't bother me .... because I'm not.

    Excellent post.

It doesn't get to me either since I've never been prone to changing my positions because of external forces. Although it does get harder to express oneself, and takes more strength, lately. But I definitely can see the extent of this mind control, and its imbedded in almost every aspect of our society. The leftists have infiltrated deep, very deep.

The rightwing pledge-signers complaining about leftwing PC thought control. This is a laugh riot.

Eh-ya, I think we are all probably racist to one degree or another. Some of us just try to overcome our basic instincts while others embrace those instincts.

What's a specific, real-world example of thought control that we could look at?

That's the thing. It's so deep a lot of it is going on with people who don't even realize they've succumbed to it. It's downright creepy.

Signing a pledge is not thought control. You've demeaned yourself, imo, by equating the two. But then that was a deflection tactic, wasn't it?
    Caught ya.

When I read this I was hoping there would be some examples that follow. So I can understand you a little better. What exactly is are these chains keeping you from doing or saying that you would otherwise not have a problem with.

    LOL. <<<mod edit>>> off topic

No one is telling you, for the most part, what you can and cannot say. I know you don't understand law, which is clear in your post. Society that asks that you don't say outrageous things. 'PC' largely stops you from saying unnecessary words that are widely-known to be insulting. Why us a term that you know will incite a negative response?

    off topic

I could be wrong but if I remember correctly PC came out of Clinton Administration and people became afraid (if you will) to be anything different...you know, follow the sheep.

    I'll give you several.

It's wrong to deny global warming.
It's racist to point out the huge problems in the Black community.
It's bigoted to NOT agree with gay marriage.

Here's my opinion, and it's based on common sense:
global warming is a political agenda to control people and business
the problems in the Black community are sever and they aren't owning or fixing them
gay marriage goes against the traditional definition of marriage that goes back thousands of years.

Of course it's not thought control (lmao). All your doing is pledging to hold the line regardless of all future needs and contingencies, and no matter what your BRAIN tells you is right at the time. No thought control there, by golly.

It is wrong to 100% deny global warming just as it's wrong to say it is 100% happening and caused by man. That isn't about being PC. That's called looking at scientific evidence objectively.

No it's not. It's racist to CONSTANTLY bring it up and never make meaningful contributions to any other topics.

No it's not. It's bigoted to say gay people are sick demented people who should be shot and burned in hell.

Again with the blacks. What is the OBSESSION?

PC has little to do with it. If one says something that another reasonable person thinks is racist one of either two things has occurred: 1. that person has indeed uttered something racist or 2. that person has not stated what they really mean clearly. If it's the former the title is deserved; if the latter perhaps more explination is needed. It is the speaker who is responsibe for his words, not the listener.

The globe has been warming and cooling for what, billions of years. Were the length of time the globe/world existed on a 24 hour clock, human intervention would be less than one second. Why don't you get real and ignore Al Gore who is only pushing the lie to line his pockets..

You're entitled to your opinion (and the expression of it) on these issues. So are the people who disagree with you about them.

Sounds like you're just trying to quell the disagreement by whining that you're a victim of political correctness.

It takes a strong will to not surrender an unpopular view. No one has any obligation to refrain from criticism of those views.

And no, I'm not interested in a debate over which views are more popular. Perhaps the fact that you feel a need to complain about it gives us a clue about that.

Nothing to see here. Everyone can go back to their knitting, etc.

Well as for global warming I'm from Texas mind you, but I've never heard anyone being called bigoted or racist for not believing in man made global warming. To deny it altogether is simply to deny temperature data, but still not racist or bigoted.

As for pointing out problems within the black community. I suppose that all depends on you phrase it. One should always be careful when discussing any community whether ethnic or religious as we tend to forget a lot of our identity is wrapped up in our religion, and heritage. Any person can be easily offended by a misplaced comment about either unless they are spineless and simply don't stand with anything. If you remember this when discussing the black community, or any community I've found you can avoid offending anyone, and still state your mind. Also it depends a lot on whether or not your just saying the community is no good, or if you can recognize the good in their history, and heritage, and urge them to reach for that.

Again if you want to argue against gay marriage it's all in how you phrase it. There are gay people against gay marriage after all . Now if you phrase your argument to imply that homosexuals are immoral, unnatural, beastly creatures, or something like that you would actually be meeting the definition of a bigot, but if you just say marriage is specific term for a relationship between a man or a woman anyone calling you a bigot just doesn't know what the word means. If you don't favor civil unions either. I don't see an unbigotted reason for that so you'd have to give me one.
