Well! since California makes a habit of catching and releasing criminal offenders to violently attack and murder US citizens over and over again, I fully expect Paul Pelosi's attacker to be released from jail later this afternoon, UNLESS! of course, he's identified as a Republican, then he'll be sentenced to Life in Prison without the possibility of parole.

The police just gave a statement. They said the police was called to the house and when they got there they found Paul and another man both gripping a hammer. They said the man jerked the hammer away from Paul and attacked, at which point the police tackled the man and arrested him for attempted murder.

You're more well read on political history so I'm just hazarding a guess here. I'd say his penchant for chaos and destruction may be eclipsed by his traitorous actions against our country. Benedict Donald.

Psychologically, it's easier to "blame the victim" because that's less scary.

Easy: The assailant did X because the victim did Y.
Hard: Out of control violent assailants can hurt me at any time for no reason or provocation.

It's a way to compartmentalize discomfort.

We all witnessed this over the past couple of years. Trump went on a rage-filled Firing Spree after he lost the election. He didn't want to hear from anybody that told him there was no basis or evidence of widespread election fraud. He just couldn't face that so it was easier to tell his supporters the Big Lie rather than Biden won the election legitimately and we need to come together as a nation in support of our new President-Elect Biden. As painful as that is for the rest of us, I think the takeaway should be that a person terrified of facts and bad news is not fit to be re-elected and, unfortunately, people still defending him are more than happy to help him burn the place down.

Nobody except law enforcement personnel and military should ever have to fear for their life or the lives of their loved ones solely for doing their job.

I am very glad that Paul is a big man which is probably why the attack didn't kill him. Nancy would not have been as fortunate.
