English is not complex. Although Ido agree that Americans find it so, they all struggle with it, particularly "then" and "than". It's very rare isee an American using it correctly.

Also English is a mix of Latin, norman, Celt and German. Our royal family is German, although our king is a descendant of Vlad the Impaler (Dracula). This is probably why the Brits hate the royal family, only the English like the royal family, generally speaking.

If one knows a bit about the history of England and the British Isles it will not be a surprise that English is a mix of the languages that you noted. I could argue as to how complex I believe English is based upon my observation of my parent’s experience learning English but we could be accused of going off topic. My parents were of the opinion that English was more complex than the two Slavic languages that they spoke. I do speak one of those languages but I am in no way a native speaker of their mother tongue.

 

Especially since the WWW exists, because most of the web is English speech and English text.
Internet users are almost forced to learn English, if they don't want to stumble around the web like blind guys.

Ukrainians during WW2 saw the Nazis as a chance to get rid of Bolshevism.
They suffered a lot under ruZZkie rule but hadn't much knowledge of Nazism.

 

Central, Southern, and Eastern Ukraine suffered under Bolshevism from the close of the civil war and the “peace” after WWI until 1991. Western Ukraine fell under Polish rule which got more and more oppressive until the Germans invaded in 1939. Of course in 1939 the Soviet Russians invaded Western Ukraine as you of course know. Therefore all of Ukraine fell under Bolshevik terrorism. The Germans appeared to be “good guys” at first.
