The NYT might have trouble coming up with $50.

Is there any type of action I can take against the NYT while not quitting my job and standing in the streets with a dumb sign?

With the technology out there today, anybody can find out someone's address very easily. All they need to know is your name. With that they can find out your address, phone number, age, etc. And possibly even do a google earth search to find out EXACTLY where you are. So, don't get too upset with the New York Times.

Why shouldn't I? What purpose does it serve to give out his address? WHat does it contribute to the story? Why should I be okay with a major news outlet trying to get an innocent man killed?

All a fabrication, none of it proved.

If Wilson was fighting for his life why does his face look like he was tickled by the tickler?

If someone punches you in a restraunt you don't have a RIGHT to shoot him dead.

Neither does a cop...but wasWilson punched? Or tickled?

The same was in Germany after BILD-Zeitung published address of leader GDL labor union.
Read better Ann Coulter if you want to know more about so-called liberals who want to scare or to kill opponents.

I vaguely remember a news story waaaay back in 2011 or thereabouts where Palin put a picture of a crosshair on a map for some odd ad or whatever, and when someone actually died, the left went all kerfuffle over it, how it was all Palin's fault. Fast forward to 2014 as the NYTimes prints the cops address in their paper. Should he be taken out, would the left hold the NYTimes just as responsible? Somehow I'm thinking "no".

There's also that age-old statement made famous in Star Trek VI "Just because we can do a thing, it does not necessarily mean we must do that thing." Well, could the NYTimes do it? Yeah. Should they have? No. I guess I could have appealed to their sense of professionalism - until I remembered that this is the NYTimes - and they haven't had any in a long, long time. Appealing to the NYTimes sense of professionalism is like appealing to a cat's sense of quantum physics.

The 'they do it too' argument is one of the first to be debunked as a child. Remember the jumping off a bridge reply ?

I never said what the New York Times did was right. I was merely stating how EASY it is to get someone's address.

Professionalism? Fox News sure could use a dose of that.

I've always heard little immature boys between the ages of 2 and 5 enjoy anything to do with farts.

    It's true, it's true!

agreed, if you have the resources or know-how or time. Problem with those that may do harm with this information is they want said information spoon-fed to them.

The people leaking the info, just "accidentally" put it out on the http:// and now it's there forever. Before the NYT's article, the info was more labor intensive to get.... now, a quick google search will pop it up.

I got a really funny e-mail about an op-ed just now. In a somewhat ironic editorial Mr. Sorkin weighs in on the recent Sony hacks. How does this relate to the OP? Well -

Odd how when it happens to the Liberal Elites, somehow the idea of their info being leaked seems very important. But, y'know, not so much when it happens to others. And especially ironic that Sorkin's whining took place in the NYTimes itself. I suspect no one there made the connection. Certainly no one who reads the NYTimes, since - well, how many people even DO anymore?
