It doesn't say the entire globe and earth is the same as land. You lose.

You know I did a few calculations and the added amount of MASS to Earth if the ridiculous idea of somehow enough water suddenly came out of NOWHERE and completely covered all the land masses of Earth at a altitude necessary to cover Mt. Everest which is 29,029 feet or 8,848 meters....approx. 5.5 Miles High....would be so much added mass that a few major things would happen.

#1. That amount of added mass would change the Gravity Well's strength of Earth so a person weighing 100 lbs would weigh about 110 lbs.

#2...This amount of added mass would cause a MAGNETIC POLAR SHIFT....thus it could have very well changed North to South or swung the North Magnetic Pole to exist at the latitude Spain currently resides.

#3...This added sea level would mean our atmosphere would have to be raised and either two possible outcomes could occur.
    a. This sudden rise in sea level 5.5 miles higher could cause a massive loss of Earth's atmosphere to space.
    b. We could not lose our atmosphere and this would cause atmospheric pressure to increase to the point that every breath we took of such dense air would be like breathing in a liquid.

#4. If such a flood occurred there is no possible way for the water to be removed or recede thus Earth would permanently be a water planet without land masses.

#5 Such added mass would change the Earth's rotational path around the sun as well as change the amount of time the Earth orbited the sun and possibly worse....the Earth centripetal force of orbit could be stronger in force to the suns gravitational pull thus it is possible if Earth retained it's velocity it could break out of solar orbit and all life would die frozen in deep space....or Earth could impact another planet never mind the LUNAR IMPLICATIONS.

Does anyone else here but ME understand the complete IDIOCY of such a concept as a Global Flood?

No. It cannot rise to 20,000 feet. Experiment in your bath. Half fill it with water. That is the total amount of water on the earth. Get in it. YOU are the land sticking out of the water. Get a bowl and try to drown your self by pouring the water over yourself. You can't. The water runs off you back to the level in the bath. The only way to drown yourself is to introduce new water from an external source - the tap. And we don't have a tap in the sky connected to another planet where there's water.

The geography of the earth is such that surplus water always finds its way back to the sea, lake etc. Because water is heavier than air, and gravity, it will always go to the lowest point, which happens to be the sea. Pour some water on an uneven slope and it will form its own tiny streams as it DESCENDS the slope. It will only stop when it either reaches the bottom or hits a barrier. It will then divert or overcome the barrier and continue.

Of course land below sea level will flood when dykes are burst, and remain flooded, because it's below the sea level.

These are all junior school experiments.

    You know what?

You and I both know this Global Flood story is impossible.

In fact if a GOD actually did it the result would probably be the death of all life on Planet Earth...FOREVER.

The added mass would throw the damn planet out of orbit and the added mass thus added gravitational effect between the Earth and Moon would cause the Moon to begin a decaying Earth orbit.

There are just so many disastrous things that would occur if this COMPLETE FANTASY SCENARIO happened that is is SAD anyone actually believes in the story.

The problem is that when you've been indoctrinated, often from childhood, it's hard to break away. I had a christian upbringing and believed the Bible stories. It wasn't until I allowed myself to think for myself that I began to question things. I'm not sorry for my upbringing, it was well meant and a good one from caring parents. It's the effort of breaking away that is hard. Of accepting things that you held dear are not always what they seem to be, or what the church would have you believe.I believe that the church is beginning to come to terms with science and ideas are beginning to change. But not for those few who refuse to accept anything but the traditional teaching.

I think for some people Religion is a good thing and needed.

However this is not so for everyone.

Issues occur when people like you and I ON A DEBATE FORUM no less....get ragged on for talking about FACTS and REALITIES.

    I've often wondered.

In the society in which we live I agree. But suppose religion had never come into being. Instead man had formed a 'moral' code by which to live. What sort of society would we have today? Would the 'religious' wars between faiths have been 'moral' wars. Would the Arabs be fighting among themselves over different 'moral' points, or trying to inflict their 'moral' code on the world. Or would we have peace? Unlikely, given mans nature.:frown:

    Who knows? :roll::wink:

Well...that was what John Lennon asked in his song Imagine.

Thing is that Ancient Man not having the knowledge or technology to determine certain realities was bound to develop a Religion.

    Here is the funny thing.

Christian's and Jew's and Muslims all refer to the GODS of Greece and Rome and the GODS of the Germanic Tribes and Norse and Saxon...etc...to be PAGAN....simply because the Big Three Religions declared that Monotheism was REAL and Multitheism...was NOT.

But in REALITY the Christian's, Jew's and Muslim's had no more proof than the Pagan's that their religious beliefs were any more real!! LOL!!!

So thus in reality.....ALL RELIGIONS WORSHIP A PAGAN GOD!! LOL!!!

That is understood estimation that you have not included frozen surfaces in South and North Pole. Here are the facts' earth's total surface area is 148,326,000 sq. km. Total water area 361,740,000 sq km. 97% of the water is salt and 3% fresh water. 71% of earth is water and only 29% is surface. For the surface area to stay afloat it must have natural drainage system to drain surface water back to the ocean or to the low lands. Other means of preventing the surface from submerging are: 1. Plants, trees and animals that drunk waters. 2. Sun that evaporates surface water and 3. passage or canals that drains surface water back to the ocean and rivers. If it rains for 40 days and 40 nights the surface will not be able to sustain the amount of water. We have seen what two days of torrential rain can do to cities, forest, etc. it takes only one day of torrential rain to flood an entire city or region.

It prove that a worldwide flood did occurred in every civilization and they took note of those events because it was an unforgettable event. They record it the only way they know how in the absence of any modern form of education or records keeping they record it through word of mouth, through cave drawings and through stories that survived for centuries until finally God reveal what really happened through the Bible. The people who recorded those events were descendants of Noah's children Shem, Ham and Japheth.

The adding of more water is teh 40 days and 40 nights of none stop rain and the failure of the surface area to sustain it. You shut the water tap and the water in the tab or sink starts to drain that is if you unplugged the drain if you don't unplugged the drain the water remain in the tab and become to form a new body of water such as the Black Sea for example and the surrounding area outside of the sink stop getting flooded because the water in the sink has stop to over flow and the water outside the sink will recede and drain to lower area. water will always find its way to the lowest point.

Do not ignore that the cycle of evaporation must not be interrupted if there is any interruption then you will have flooding.
If it does not stop raining for 40 days and 40 nights but if the rain stop the water start to evaporate, drain to the ocean etc. and this is when Noah finally came out of the Ark because after 40 days and 40 nights the rain stop and water receded this you need to understand just base it on your sink / tab experiment.

Human engineering will mean zip indeed that is why God has to step in and eventually we have learn to build better dikes, better canals,, better water ways, etc. to prevent their cities from submerging against the flood waters or from being engulf by the Ocean, Holland and the Netherlands are just one clear example of this. Chinese legends are full of flooding and how heroes were able to over come those flooding.

So how many additional cubic miles of water would it take to submerge Everest?

(of course, Everest wasnt very big, or, non existent then; see Wlat Brown, youtube, hydroplate theory)

If the earths diameter were increased by that much, that would tend to thin the atmosphere.
You didnt take that into account.

Increased gravity would have some effect.. how much would that affect air pressure, allowing for the air being thinned by having to cover a larger area.

The earth's orbit would of course be changed, and probably also that of other planets.
Would the speed be slowed as the mass increased? Would the combo make us spiral closer to the sun?

As for where the water would have gone, that has been solved.
The wind wafted it away, all the way to Neptune where it shines to this day as a warning beacon against incoming rogue angels. I got that from an "independent southern baptist".

You forgot that Jesus Christ is God and through Him the One True God was reveal. God became man as Jesus Christ He dwell with men, He reveal to us His true Kingdom and that we are all His children.

The external source of water is the rain if the rain does not stop for 40 days and 40 nights all earth's surface area will submerged. Keep the water tap running for 40 days and 40 nights and you will start to flood your basement or floor below. Yes these are all junior or simple experiments that can prove that a global flooding is real.

That is the difference between me and you I know monkeys will not fly out of your butt but you do that is why we need to understand and educate ourselves.

Spring snowmelt and unseasonal rains don't equate to a global flood.

    # 4; If the additional water goes on eternally then yes, but if the additional water is stopped then everything goes back to normal that is why the water receded after 40 days and Noah came out of his Ark.
    # 5 Earth's orbital path will not be affected because the global flooding is an earthly event only same thing any Martian storm that is occurring in Mars only affects Mars whether it will start to introduce life form it won't affect our galactic atmosphere.

No it doesn't, it will take more than that it will take a massive climate change a climate change that scientist have been predicting and seeing happening and they are taking steps to protect us from such catastrophe.

    LOLOL.

If there is a deluge like what you expect there won't be enough dams etc to hold back the water.

No, it won't. Remember that I posted a source from NASA that said only 60 millimeters would cover the land if all the rain fell.

That is true. If you hypothesise that for some strange reason the temperature at the poles changed enough to melt them entirely, you could include the water that would be produced if all of that melted rather than continued floating on top of the water as the ice at the north pole already does. Ignoring the fact that melting glaciers are not the same thing as rainfall, then sea level would indeed rise... by much less than 400 feet. Pretty devastating to some areas, but absolutely nowhere near close to the mountaintops.

    Try again.

Yes, however, there is not enough water in existence for that much rain to fall. You are making me repeat myself.

Firstly, 'proof' is a strong word. It is evidence - the quality of which I am questioning. Secondly, it is evidence that you may think suggests a global flood which did not cover the mountains.

Added from where though? Not the ice caps. Not the oceans. Not the atmosphere. All of those together are not enough, not by a long shot. Where did the extra water appear from, and where did it go afterwards? You consistently avoid that question.

You can't "drain to the ocean" if the ENTIRE GLOBE IS ALREADY ONE BIG OCEAN. Will you ever stop demonstrating how little you understand?

....Do you think the continents are pieces of land floating on water?

Too bad it didn't occur in "every civilization". You claim that some civilizations have a deluge myth, which are entirely different in substance, and then jump to the conclusion that it was the same Flood.

If somehow there was enough water falling from the skies to produce a Global Flood, all of our man made machinations would be absolutely useless and void.

Either you are ...... or you haven't read what I said. THERE IS NO EXTERNAL WATER SOURCE ON EARTH. THERE IS NO TAP TO TURN ON. All the water in your bath is the sum total of the water. Rain comes from the sea and goes back to the sea as river water. FREE WATER HAS ITS OWN LEVEL, AND THAT IS SEA LEVEL. IT WILL MAKE ITS WAY BACK THERE.

Alpha has given you other real reasons why the flood did not happen.

My grandchild learnt all this by the age of 10. If you can't understand a simple thing like this there's no point in this 'conversation'.

Yes if all the rain fell for 40 days and 40 nights where will all those waters go? Not down but rise up until the rain stop then it will start to go back to the ocean.
