I have an inkling that most automobile companies (minus the ones we had to bail out) probably have a much better understanding of how they can make money than the President. Energy efficient vehicles will become popular as fuel prices rise, sure. However accurate demand forecasting is a very a complicated statistical practice for corporations that also involve rationalized subjective assumptions. I would imagine that these companies are a little better at these practices than he, or his administration, are.

Obama is an idiot. The market is precise. If gas is too high causing demand for these vehicles to go down, auto companies will produce less of them. It's not rocket science. I like how Clinton gets a BJ and he gets impeached for that but Obama seeks to destroy this nation as we know it and nobody says a word.

what he is trying to say is "me and my fellow liberals need you to make more green cars so the prices dont go up because we need our big ass armored urban assault vehicles to use the gas and plus we plan to take 50 more vacations in the next year so we are trying to keep from taking too much of the tax payers money" ...

basically he wants us all to go green and use less gas so they can use more a little easier.

They sell lots of cars that get under 20 with gas at $3.50, did Obama miss that?

Again what experience does he have to be able to tell more highly qualified people how to build cars and what cars to build?

 

Regrdless of the vehicle class, the internal combustion engine needs to be replaced, i.e, diesel-electric engine, like in freight trains, that get over 400 MPG per ton of weight. This would greatly reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

The real story here is an absentee owner of the company making company policy when he doesn't know anything about automobiles.
