    He should have said....

"you can't make buses either, I am buying mine from a non-union Canadian manufacturer"

    who knows who cares?

they bought a shell and the majority of the work done to it was in Nashville.

The Merlin (european) won the marine one contract over an american designed helocopter.

That is a pretty insane thing to say.

If the market wants SUVs and trucks then the automakers better make them. The reason the government bailed out GM and Chrysler were to preserve them.

Why would the government promote their survival and then now suggest they do something that would put them in jeopardy?

Because their takeover didn't work, and GM survives, despite Gov interference.

Does that mean Toyota and Honda and Nissan and...do NOT make fuel efficient vehicles, and are exempt from fuel standards?
Seems you are complaining about some, not all.

According to the White House, less than a majority of the work was done in the U.S. They say half the cost of the bus went to Canada and half to the U.S. so that would mean, what, 20% of the work was done in the U.S.?

None of my work is best.

It might have been better, had I been educated in the US. So, I will always regret the truancy on my part and the self learning that came after it.

An empty shell bus was bought from Canada by Hemphill Brothers Coach Co in Tennessee who inturn armors them and sells them off.

I dont see how custom building a armored bus from an empty shell off the assembly line could be done 80% by cannuks.

This is consistent with the general liberal mentality that people do not know what they need or what is good for them, you need the gubment to tell them and force them to buy it.

Barry says that our auto makers should make the tiny cars that Americans want. I know I want one to haul in the back of my pickup truck.

So I guess no one in the US could do this we had to go to Canada.

Obama goes in his brand new bus from Canada and goes talking about jobs? Hypocrisy much

So we don't make buses in the US or Obama just needed the most expensive bus made. Prevost is very expensive without armor

The smarter way would be make E-85 our fuel and make ethanol from other sources other than corn and fuel would cost less and we would pollute less. As always Obama is looking at the solution that will not work

Ya know, I was driving around for 5 years in a "fuel efficent" car. Last week I said screw it. I traded it in for a Dodge Durango. The money spent in gas is worth it to me. Maybe I'll create an oil rig job. :bored:

Are there any companies actually still building highway coaches in the US? I'm not sure there are...I drove them for a while, and I recall the only US-built bus was a GMC PD4106. It was built while Kennedy was in the White House. The rest were from Canada (Prevost, MCI) or Europe (Setra, VanHool).

(Incidentally, the GMC is still in service with over 3,000,000 miles!)
