My suspicion that you have no idea how to detect sarcasm.

I don't think that James Brown was ever called "The King" of anything.

And if the clubs lose member when they do not renew their fees because they are pissed that they could not play there over Labour Day weekend and join another club????

Maybe they just hope for him to go back to Washington and do his jobs for a change.

My guess is that the clubs just want to be loyal to their paying members. Besides, most private clubs are INVITATION only. If Obama was not invited by another member, wouldn't that violate the club's bylaws?

What I heard is that Bush knew Obama would want to golf in NY, so he reserved ALL of the tee times at all of the good clubs ahead of time....it's Bush's fault.

Lol......I can just hear Obama say: "Well, I didn't want to golf on your course anyway....it sucks".

There is no such things as a "lousy course"....unless the course was so poorly maintained that it was nothing more then a cow pasture or swamp.

I don't know if you have ever played or caddied on country club (private) courses, but some are very poorly designed/maintained. In this case, winged foot was poorly designed. Would have been better leaving it as a cow pasture.

You will have to provide proof of this claim. Private courses that are poorly maintained to the point they are not fun to play will not keep members for long.

While YOU may claim it is poorly designed, I doubt it is so. The same principle i mentioned above still holds true. If it was not fun to play, they would not maintain membership....especially in NY where there are plenty of private courses to choose from. I will put this down to "sour-grapes" as Winged Foot was ranked as on of the America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses in 2010 by Golf Digest. It has also hosted many pro tours.

Actually yes, and everything around that restaurant. You would be very surprised how far security goes. All you have to do is come to Chicago to see what Happens when the president visits.

Only when they want to do a photo op. After all, they have to show that they are just "one of us".

Be happy about that. ;) Last time Obama was here, I left work and got stuck on Lakeshore Drive while traffic simply...stopped. We all had to get out of the bus and walk about a mile and a half to a train as all the roads were blocked off.

No proof from my end; definitely not sour grapes whether you believe it or not; you look it up on google maps and see for yourself otherwise that concludes this discussion.

Exactly. And even then it is very tightly controlled. It has to be, and all you need are these three names to understand why:

    John F Kennedy
    Robert Kennedy
    Ronald Reagan

I have actually played Winged Foot......granted many years ago. Can't say it was really very memorable either positively or negatively. I remember the ones I have been disappointed in as much as I do the ones I felt were outstanding. As I said before though....there is no thing as a bad course, other then it having a maintenance issue. And what I mean by maintenance issue: on one course, I lost my ball on the fairway. On another course, the greens looked like the craters of the moon and were not tightly mowed.

And the US Open will be there again in 2020. I don't know what you require of a golf course, but Winged Foot Ain't a "cow pasture".

It is decidedly ON TOPIC on this board, as well as in the public domain, (thus the C&P examples of blatant racism) as citizens of this country prove over and over and over and over that OBAMA is despised as much for the color of his skin as the content of his presidency. One would be NAIVE (or have their head up their ass) not to consider RACE as a possible reason for Obama being turned down at a prestigious country club in any state. Men of power and influence STILL relinquish memberships to RESTRICTED clubs because they feel it doesn't look good (or are shamed into quitting) and HOPEFULLY because some think it is the right thing to do.

My avid golfers friends would be livid if they lost their golfing day/priviledges in this manner. Avid golfers dont play. Thems fighting words to them.

My ex once played in a golf tournament and rained. It rained so hard they were drenched. What did he do? Went to wally world and bought new clothes and went back. It was still raining. Lol.
