Wrong! The burden of having to pay extortionist premiums to greedy HMO's will be eliminated which NEGATES any potential "tax increase". Furthermore the Dems will probably empower Medicare to NEGOTIATE drug prices with Big Pharma which will also effectively REDUCE the cost of healthcare considerably. So with the SAVINGS of not having the greedy HMO OVERHEADS any longer and much lower drug prices there will be no actual out of pocket increase of any significance.
You are entitled to your misinformed opinion but it does not alter REALITY. A MAJORITY of Americans FAVOR Obamacare. https://www.kff.org/interactive/kai...esponse=Favorable--Unfavorable&aRange=twoYear
If you actually cared about this issue you'd favor ending the patent system which is responsible for near all of their exorbitant profits and which is effectively a government subsidy.
Actually what has happened is that Big Pharma has GAMED the patent system and that does need to be stopped IMMEDIATELY. Medicare should be allowed to purchase GENERIC alternatives for ALL of the brand name drugs and then the patients should get to decide for themselves if they want the generic alternative at no cost versus paying out of pocket for the brand name drug. Another option is to just set a fixed cap on what can be charged for any drug under patent.
First this has to go to the supreme Court and if they uphold the ruling it will be thrown back into the democrat congress lap right where it belongs. They got us into this mess now they have to get us out.
Yes. The alternative is Millions of Americans going without healthcare resulting in even higher medical cost due to Emergency Room care. Adding to higher Medical bankruptcies.
GOP can't kill anything. It's in the Supreme Court hands first and then goes to a democrat congress if the courts uphold the ruling. The GOP can just stand aside and watch the show as democrats bury their illegitimate dead baby.
In the great economy we have now ( 40 year historic unemployment Lows ) Republicans should have kept the house. The number one issue in 2018 Elections was keeping the ACA. Republicans will lose the Senate and WH if the ACA goes away. Dirty Donnie screwing up again ...........
And when you take profit out of new drugs companies that spend decades developing new drugs will no longer have incentive to do so.
"democracy can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselveslargess from the public treasury. ... Alexander Hamilton famously said, "When thepeople find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end "
It looks like in practical terms nothing changes. People can still apply for heath care in accordance with The Affordable Care Act. Once an appeal of the Texas judge's decision reaches The Supreme Court, we'll see if Roberts' vote upholds Obamacare again.
The number 1 issue for voters in 2018 Elections were keeping their healthcare with no Pre -Existing conditions Instead of making good on his Healthcare Promises Trump has instead focused on exorbitant Military spending. Reducing Revenue thru the Rich Tax cuts creating a blossoming deficit when we have a Robust economy. Getting rid of the ACA will guarantee the Dems take the WH
The law more than pays for itself. The Medicare savings alone have been hundreds of billions more than predicted (and more than needed to balance the books).
It wasn't meant to fix the healthcare system. The political lift was too heavy. Which is one of the reasons why the Republicans NEVER offered a real proposal to "replace" when they yelled "repeal and replace" I suspect that the GOP leadership is none too happy about this ruling. One of the most effective lines Democrats used against the GOP in the last election was hanging the GOP health care reform opposition against them. If this case drags on for two years, and if the Roberts court, newly stacked with Federalist Society picks, brings back the bad old days of pre existing conditions, junk insurance, and high costs and declining coverage, it will be THE domestic policy issue of the 2020 election. And the GOP will be on the WRONG side of it. That' along with the continuing demographic shift spell real trouble.
Not really. Given the glacial pace of the legal process, I'd bet the final word on this from a Court/legal perspective won't even happen during DT's first term. And since he is now (or soon will be) dealing with a D-majority House, even if he had the most brilliant plan in the history of humanity, they won't pass it, because NOTHING he can do is right, because Trump. Even the most brilliant plan in history.
I'm sure they do, but I won't undermine the foundations of our country on a dictatorial law. What they want and deserve is a well funded and working health care system. There are examples of such that work without dictating the rights to citizens.
You're delusional. The amount of time and money it takes to become a doctor or develop a drug is criminal. Or at least should be. But given "it is what it is", well, it "is what it is". Virtually nobody is going to partake in those endeavours without the backside payoff. I sure wouldn't.
