I wish I had as much faith in SJW’s as you do.

    I don’t.

They are already claiming to be the victim and were only trying to ensure the “free speech” of their students.

Then perhaps leftist infested Oberlin College shouldn't have race-agitated, eh? It's called consequences. Perhaps the leftist dominated public education system should return to teaching that particular concept to students again. It would be a start.

Oberlin states that they did not agitate in this incident - that the school mitigated only for freedom of speech and safety. They say the claims are false.

Also, the record includes statements that this establishment has a history of discrimination and that this event touched off the response.

In a SANE world, sure. But I deal with admins in education all the time both at the elementary and college level - they tend to double-down on stupid.

These guys - I guarantee you, they will never comprehend that they did anything wrong, it's the fault of those hick jurors who are nowhere near as educated and lack the social justice vision these admins have.

The jury disagreed . . . as does the court record.

Tort reform aims at reducing non-economic damages. They haven't even reached that part of the trial.

Interesting -- if unsurprising-- that you take the side of the defendants. Do you even know what they did?

That's not even the basis of the lawsuit. Read it.

    My heavens....

Oh-oh! Oberlin College’s insurance company says their policy doesn’t cover the huge verdict against it

Perhaps enrollment may need to be cut.

    Faculty as well.

Why do leftists do the things the school is guilty of?

Perhaps they think their cause is moral and if a few innocents schleps get hurt along the way, so be it.

I'll bet they win on appeal. It doesnt't sound like the school had any negative involvement.

But, the amount of hate for education expressed in this thread is certainly impressive. Long live stupid - the characteristic it seems so many depend on.

It sounds clear that this was not a one time event on the part of this shop.

Except for the parts where they did - you know, like a school official passing out flyers and stuff.

Please expound upon the hate for education that you see - because all I saw was hate for the morons RUNNING this school. There's a difference between the two. As I said - please link quotes.

Perhaps you could detail exactly what these other events were?

I don't see an indication that those running this school had any involvement other than free speech and safety - NOT taking sids in the specific issue.

Hate for education comes out with these assumptions.

My daughter did her undergraduate work at Earlham, another small town with a well respected school - Quaker, in this case. Significant numbers of those in the town HATED the students. The school had to have programs related to protection for students who wanted to go into the downtown area. They would be singled out and often assaulted.

In the Oberlin case, the business in question had a reputation. It seems clear that this event touched off an already tense relationship. And, I dont see an indication that the school leadership was involved in a negative way.

Except again for that pesky school official passing out flyers. From the story: "Dean of Students Meredith Raimondo was accused of passing out an anti-Gibson’s flier." It's right there.

A quote, sir. Give us a quote from someone on this thread saying they hate education. So far, the only assumption being made here is by you.

You made this claim. Back it up.

I'd like some links to what exactly these other events were because all I see are some aggrieved students pissed off at having been caught shoplifting from a store, playing the race card, and making up stories in order to justify playing the victim.

Cold hard truth is that saving jobs has never been a good reason to sustain a failed endeavour and Oberlin College is just that. Their administration dedicated itself to weaponizing the study body in the pursuit of SJWism. This incident isn't the only proof of that. Back in 2016 the class body was so convinced that they were activists first and a students second that they demanded midterms be abolished and that no failing grade be issued. Now what good for the students, or the community they are set loose upon, is it to have them walk out of this "college" with a $50,000+ degree that isn't even worth the paper its printed upon? Personally I think they should close.

just cause you don't like the comparison, doesn't mean it's off topic, but nice try at derailing the thread

I don't care about the comparison. I am just noting that you can't stay on subject. In all these post between you and me you haven't addressed the subject of the OP once while carrying on with your "whataboutism". If that's what you do then that's what you do.

I hope that college doesn't get any government money. It would really be a shame if the taxpayer had to pay for SJW insanity.
