If you mean proportional then wouldn't that go against the idea that universal care, even for the poor, would create such lay abouts?

I hear fear mongering that if hospitals were funded by taxes and you don't have to pay to use them, people would overuse them for trivial things.

That probably does happen sometimes, but not all that often.

A movement so weak that conservative politicians here run away from it because it is political suicide to support it.

I don't think you will long term. I think eventually you will join the rest of the civilized world and adopt universal health care. It will just take a while longer since your for profit insurance companies are lining the pockets of your bought politicians.

You do tend to lag behind other western countries, but you make social progress eventually. You eventually banned slavery, after decades of them fleeing here in the underground railroad. Gays can get married now in your country too, only a decade and a half after they could here. You will get there on health care eventually too. The day will come when people no longer go bankrupt there due to medical mishap.

Already do. We invite immigration. Our country is big and empty and our population is aging.

The key word is "Invite".. Are you seriously going to make me research the parameters and requirements to take up residency and become a Canadian citizen? Or will you have me believe that just covertly entering and taking up residence is an acceptable pathway to citizenship ;)

But everyone (except for the royalty in France) participated in the democracy/reign of terror of the French Revolution.

we want universal health care, the public option would be a compromise

you already have universal health care, so the public option would be a compromise

if we already had universal health care, conservatives here would want a public option

Ah, another talking point that's a favorite with the rightists and Trump loving folks, the good ole we were energy independent before Biden horseshit line. What has changed since Biden became POTUS? I don't care about your feelings, I want to see verifiable links that show the change, no horseshit talking points please.

Here is another link that shows drilling has increased 60% in one year. That kinda destroys your Biden won't allow drilling talking point.

Wrong. One of the greatest shows of terror is political and governmental history was the democratic reign of terror in France.

"Do I Need Private Health Insurance If I Have Medicare?
While the Canadian healthcare system is great for emergency and maternity services, doctor and specialist visits, diagnostics, referrals and rehabilitation, it doesn't provide many of the services that are necessary for preventative care; not to mention eye or dental coverage. More to that, there's no coverage for prescription meds, hearing aids, chiropractors, physio and psychological therapy. Because of that, approximately 60% of Canadians as of June 2022 have a private healthcare plan to supplement their provincial plan. So in essence, yes, you need a private health insurance plan. It's the best way to protect yourself and your family against conditions and ailments that may prove worse in the future."

The rest of the world is also living to more privitization has they cannot sustain their own systems and waiting kines and denials increase.

What is your evidence of this "lining your pockets" and what defines it? You prefer government workers and officials liking their pockets?

The slavery your mother country and other European nations ingrained into their colonies and economy?

Bankruptcy do to medical is the rare case here and usually persons who had far more other debt and nonassets anyway. Those debts are then discharged.

Blues, insurance costs were already going up BEFORE Obamacare. All Obamacare did was three things initially: the individual mandate, the standardization of qualified insurance plans, and the subsidies to allow people with either pre-existing conditions or not eligible for group health plans to obtain health insurance much cheaper. That's it. It still allowed FSA, HSA, and other insurance plans out there. In addition, very few companies were self-insured and most were extremely large companies whose benefits were worse with very limited in-network providers. They had to approve any elective procedures, medicines, etc. You pay very little, but in return, you have a negative ROI if you have serious medical conditions because the company will not approve most of the medicine you need to take, to acquire benefits can be complicated, or other reasons. Self Funded plans have its pros and cons and is not the panacea you are trying to make them to be. No insurance plan is like that.

If you want to reduce that 20% copay that Medicare Part B has, then generally yes. That is what Part C, D, E, F, and G are for.

Those Canadian private health care plans are supplemental health care plans. Canada has a single-payer system that every Canadian pays into. So, that plan gives them options, especially if that Canadian travels abroad. The Canadian Single Payer system does not work outside of Canada much like Medicare does not work, generally, outside of the US. And depending on which private insurance company you have, your private insurance may work outside the US as mine does. And another option is travel medical insurance if you go abroad.

Bankruptcy due to medical bills is very common and is the number one or number two reason personal bankruptcy is filed. Those cancer medications can get very expensive very quickly even with insurance. And it really does not matter what insurance you have whether you have traditional Medicare or private insurance.

I would be an issue if each state had different laws.
A drink driving law with no tolerance in one state with a more tolerant state next door. Driving the girlfriend home......

My bad. I'd assumed states contributed rather than individuals.
    That's well thought through.
I'm still learning your politics, so I'll come back to you on that one.
But every voter focuses on what the government does Right or Wrong depending on whether they are Dem or Gop.
I have asked many times on here for any common ground, as yet I have found none.
