What point are you making? Sorry but I'm confused by your post. Explain your post better in relation to the post I made. The point I made with my post was to say that morals values can only be objective with God and I go on to present a thorough explanation.

Christianity comes from the Christ, who says he is the son of the God of the Judaic religion, who sees him as a heretic. Christ, himself, was born Jewish but abandoned the theology in favor of his own- or he was directed to. In this sense, isn't Christianity the bastard theological offspring of Judaism? How can Christianity be the true religion when it was started thousands of years from any known sense of the "beginning of man"?

But I do. Your knowledge of scripture is only what Christianity tells you, not real knowledge. You've claimed 'born in sin' as being 'factual' on the evidence of Psalm 51. As I pointed out this was simply David's excuse and his feelings for his sin with Bathsheba. Take Psalm 69 - David was never in fear of ACTUAL drowning. He was expressing his feelings. It happens time and again in the Psalms and the Bible.
Look at Psalm 18. (which is a repeat of 2 Sam. 22) Do we take it literally? It's simply a way of expressing his feelings.
Jonah's Prayer (if Jonah ever existed) consists of phrases and ideas from the Psalms.

You need to learn what is real, what is not. Your interpretation of the OT is through Christian teaching. The OT is Hebrew teaching.
Some of your posts I agree with as an exChristian. Others I disagree with having studied the Bible over many years.

Faith is just part of it facts is the other part. That is why God came to us as Jesus Christ and if Jesus Christ had not resurrected we won't have Christianity that is a fact that binds and supported our faith.
Most scientist and inventions have very strong faith in their theories some will succeed after several tries that is how we discover electricity, atom, mathematical equations, telephone, cell phones, satellites, cure for polio, tuberculosis etc. etc.

As I stated....100% faith, unless you have some verifiable evidence of either this God, or the zombie Jesus.

Why in the world would a loving God do that?

I find that to be abysmally immoral.

Why not? You seem to be arguing that might makes right.

Then what is the point of even letting them live at all?

You never even answered the question that I posed. You just made excuses, poor ones at that, for why God would kill children.

Again, the point was this: "The Old Testament refers kindly to slavery, conquest, and pillaging."

Is the promotion of these things objectively moral to God?

Excuse me, but was it not God that threw Adam and Eve from Eden?

But what does the Bible really say?

Up to the 12-13th century 'faith' as derived from the Latin fides meant 'loyalty to a person, based on promise or duty' -no reference to divinity. . It didn't take on a religious meaning until the circa 14th century, when it was translated into English by Wycliffe.
Likewise 'belief' had the meaning 'trust in God' from the same latin fides but the word from the Old English ' bileave' has a different meaning.
'Belief' had become limited to 'mentally accepting something as true' by the 16th century.
There's more if you wish to research it.

Do we really understand what the early church was saying? Until the 4th century its message was so diverse that it needed the Council of Nicea to bring a semblance of order. And even then, and now, there were many 'sects' outside the newly formed church, who would not accept the decisions of the 7 main ecumenical councils.

You seriously one of the most ignorant posters here.

I posted the verse, Jeremiah 1:5. "I knew you before you were in the womb".

How can a person be known, before they exist, if their actions are already known and understood/predetermined?

This is not a hard concept for most people with the slightest degree intellect to understand.

    1) What do you mean by non believer ... non believer in what
    2) You demonstrated your lack of knowledge of Christianity your comments. You speak as if you are speaking for all Christianity but your claims do not apply to all Christianity. Salvation by faith alone is not accepted by the majority of Christians.

If you are going to speak for all Christians (or the majority) then you should have a good understanding of the subject matter.

Christianity is complex, and it is no shame to make a mistake or to not know everything.

What is truly shameful however is being shown that you are in error and living in denial or refusing to correct that error and still speaking as a spokesperson for Christianity.

And as I stated it is part faith and part facts. Jesus Christ, His Apostles, His followers are no zombies or fiction they are as real as you.

My reading of Jeremiah is that Jeremiah's soul existed. It was this soul that took form in the created body of Jeremiah.

Thus it is possible for God to have known "Jeremiah" and yet not had all his actions predetermined.

Pre existence of souls is a concept that existed in various religions, including Christianity, throughout the ages.

They are all characters in a book that is obvious fiction in most other ways, and are thus questionable at best. In the Lord of the Rings there were Eagles, which are obviously real....this does not mean Goblins ever existed.
The Bible(s) are as clearly fiction as the Hobbit.....though not as well written. I cannot pretend Jesus is real while knowing Noah is not.

Then God is not all powerful, and not a god.

Omnipotence leaves no room for apologetics.

IF God is omni....., why the need for a new covenant? The outcome of everything is known, even before it was created.

    Is God still creating today?

I have no blinders that is why I see very clearly in spirit and mind how about you?

That is your personal opinion which is fine that is why you have difficulty in distinguishing facts from fiction and I bet you also believe that humans evolved from the abominable snowman or the Saskatch and for this reason why we must share with you facts and truth and the first fact is that Lord of the Rings is a fiction book written to entertain just like De Vinci Code the Bible on the other hand is the oldest book that contain the history of the people of Israel, the lineage of human race but most importantly the Words of God.

I never thought that I would see...

something so beautiful as a tree.

I never thought I would understand....

what thoughts and enlightenment oh so grand.

As wonders abound in a world so complex...

I turned to science to learn so much more than the rest...

of those who's minds so limited in scope....

that they need created ideologies just to have hope.

And what to my wandering eyes would appear?

but a book on Quantum Mechanics, Mulltiversal Theory and a Cold Beer!

So now while all those who preach there is punishment and endless suffering waiting ahead....

for all of us thinkers with mathematics and science in our heads...

I am grateful to be satisfied and calm in both body and mind....

That such Religious Zealot Extremists live on such borrowed time.

Because I KNOW like any infection or virus uncured...

all that is living will become immune to such diseases life cures.

And even if any such vile diseases or parasites escape...

As a last defense there is at least ME.....a well trained, expert, heavily armed APE!!!

I think the book of Job clears up the omnipotence question. God feels the need to brag to the Satan and his other sons about his servant Job but then when Satan questions the veracity of Gods claims God allows Satan to test Job.

Obviously if God was Omnipotent Satan would know this and not question anything.

There are verses that claim Omnipotence and verses that reduce God to anything but a god.

The Bible is chock full of blatant contradictions, and I use what ever one serves my argument at the time.

There are at least 3 different Gods in the Bible. There is the God of Creation who seems different than the God of Abraham. The God of Abraham is different from the God of Moses. These Gods, while different have some similarities. None of these Gods remotely resemble the God of Jesus.
