    Quote Posted by Mjolnir:

Then why can't we exist on Earth and not sin? Why were Adam and Eve, even prior to eating the fruit, given the ability to sin if it's not required for free will?
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is because of what dwells in us, in our flesh. The weakness of the flesh gives birth to sin.

Jesus explained that we may be willing to have the desire to do what is right, yet we fail because our resolve is weak; our flesh is susceptible to temptation.

That is what happened to Adam and Eve, they were susceptible to temptation.

And so every single one of us are sinners...that is what we all have in common as human beings from the time of our first parents.

Show me a person who claims he/she has not sinned and I'll show you a liar...just another sinner!

So God made them in His image, and they were inherently sinners even before they ate from the tree, so God must be a sinner.
    What did I miss?

As a lutheran I hadn't heard it before, but I've had it confirmed. About 1.2B people believe it.

God made us in His image means we have a spirit nature in us just like Him. That is why when we die, our physical bodies die but not our spirit or soul. Our spirit lives on.

So obviously you have misinterpreted what "made in His image" signifies.

God is perfectly Holy, thus He is not a sinner, never was, never will be....write that down in your notebook!

Wasn't it their spirit nature that sinned?

How can the truth needs fixing? Truth is Truth. What needs fixing is "denials" of the truth!

    - - - Updated - - -

No it was their human, physical nature that sinned.

Truth. Mormons worship Jesus as the christ. A mormon on this very forum says he's a christian.
But you claim they are not christian. Truth.

Only God can answer that question, since I am not God I cannot truthfully answer, any responses by me will be pure speculation.

And I don't want to sound like a scientists because that's one of the things they do real good...is speculate (guesswork)...lol

Jesus said sin was in the mind, the heart, long before it manifested in the body. The sin wasn't murder, it was anger. The sin wasn't adultery, it was lust.
You better straighten that Jesus out.

No they weren't sinners before they ate from the tree, they became sinners after they ate from the tree.

There is no where in Scripture that quotes Jesus as uttering the phrase, "Sin was in the mind, the heart, long before it manifested in the body. The sin wasn't murder, it was anger. The sin wasn't adultery, it was lust."

Until you can give a exact quote from Scripture as to what Jesus have said, we cannot interpret or express the meaning of the quote.

27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’[e] 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. "

21 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder,[a] and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister[c] will be subject to judgment. "

Are you really that unfamiliar with Jesus?

OK, men. If you've never looked lustfully at a woman, raise your hand.

No, not you, Bruce. I meant heterosexual males.

No hands up, I see. Well, then, sinners all, adulterers all. Even Jimmy Carter lusted in his heart and admitted it.

I would agree that comments about the nature of God are pure speculation. None of us really knows for sure as we have not ever met God.

This is obviously pure speculation of the highest degree. Even if one was to grant that the Genesis story "Like us" was not speculation, it is pure speculation what "in his image" refers to and what happens to our spirit when we die.

How do you know since it is pure speculation ?

More speculation but no this note. Is killing of innocent women, children and fetuses not a sin ? Or I it just not a sin when God does it ?

Jesus was talking about married women. Not lusting after married women. Lusting after young unmarried nymphs is not a sin. It is how God created us to be.

No, of course not, but don't go spewing false statements made by Jesus. You did that on your earlier post. And when you quote Jesus, it is proper to give what book it came from, the number of the phrase or phrases and what bible it is quoted from...example: Matthew 15:3-7 NLT (NLT is the New Living Translation Bible)

When you do that it makes it so much easier to interpret the meaning of what has been quoted...thank you for your understanding.

Was there a point to this, other than disparaging me personally and making fun of scripture?
Calling us all sinners was the very point of the verse.
    Well done.

    - - - Updated - - -

Matthew 5. The verses are listed. You are saying these are "false statements made by Jesus"? I thought you were a believer!
    Did I misinterpret somehow?

Oh, and I forgot to say, you also need to mention the chapter...so for the example I gave you: Matthew 15:3-7 NLT denotes that the quote came from the book of Matthew, the 15th chapter, phrases 3 through 7 and what bible, as I have already mentioned NLT is the New Living Translation there are many others like the KJV, or the NAS...you get the picture now?

And yet so many believers claim to know that this "God" thing exists, and to know what it wants from us. Amazzle. :D

I'm talking about the phrase, " "Sin was in the mind, the heart, long before it manifested in the body. The sin wasn't murder, it was anger. The sin wasn't adultery, it was lust."

That phrase is not in the bible...are you suffering from comprehension problems?...lol I think so!...lol

So yes you misinterpreted due to your comprehension flaws...lol
