I guess most people will be aware of Pastor Manning and his various views and commentary about Obama and others (Oprah being the Anti-Christ and so on). Here is one of his latest videos: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhoEyf2Mnxc"]Obama is a Deciever and Son of Satan[/ame] He seems a very strange character from the UK perspective - we just don't get preachers like that over here at all, so his style is something that seems bizarre to us anyway. His views also seem extremely odd, to the point where he's actually become a running gag in a regular current affairs satire show with comedian Russell Howard: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISWIPY9h0Go"]***WARNING - CONTAINS PROFANITY***[/ame] I was just wondering what people in the US (and elsewhere, of course) really think about him, given that the style of delivery is likely to be somewhat more familiar to them. Is he someone who has some level of support? I've tried to make the poll options as fair and balanced as I possibly can in order to get a genuine result of how people feel.
Forgot to include a 'never heard of him' option in the poll! What's your impression of him and his views from the video (there are many more available on youtube)?
My first impression was that my decision to live without a television was probably wise. Pastor Manning seems to be a typical black preacher except he's more conservative than liberal. Jeremiah Wright, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and Pastor Manning all sound the same. They scream the personal screed and make money doing it. Now, the video with the wwhite guy. He was seriously strange.
never herd of him but based on the title of that youtube video i say deluded, and possibly needs help.
I too have never heard of him and I make it my business to be aware of that sort of thing. Even though I am a devout christian, a open theist and a christian Zionist, as a matter of fact, I am not a fan and reject the messages of haters, Westbrough church types and such are worse than the most virulent activist hating atheist. However I am beyond fringe according to some for agreeing with Hagee and like minded pastors. Anyway as I said the pastor you bring up is pretty much an unknown, except when Christian hating networks executives bring him to the forefront in an ongoing attempt to harm Christianity. Rev A
In responding to a comment by Bill O'Reilly, a commentator on Fox News Channel, calling birther lawyer Orly Taitz a "nut", he (Manning) and Taitz organized a protest outside Fox News headquarters in New York City in November 2009, which drew an estimated 15 to 20 attendees/ he is almost as crazy as Rev. Wright
Preachers should stick to preaching the Gospel, love and peace. We have enough division, hatred, looking down on others. Enough. Reach out to one another.
He is a brilliant man who is trying to help his ailing "people." He's misguided in the sense that he thinks his "people" will ever change or listen to his wise words, but at least he's trying. I am not familiar with him. After viewing the first few seconds of the video you provided, I conclude I haven't missed anything. I stopped with his statement "Obama is the son of Satan." Although I am certainly not an Obama fan, I'm even less tolerant of stupidity.
When Jesus hates the same people that you do, you know he's made in your image. Pastor Manning hasn't figured that out.
Never heard of Pastor Manning in California and I expect the same is true everywhere outside of whatever tiny backwoods Southern town he is from. Except England. Who the hell is Russell Howard? I hope he is equally unknown in England as he is the most unfunny, idiotic, and ridiculous comedian I have ever seen. He is so painful to watch I couldn't make it half way through the clip. If there is one thing the English are absolutely, positively not...it is funny. That is with the exception of Monty Python and even they had their moments of blindingly unfunny material. Please leave comedy to the Americans. It is about the only thing we excel at anymore.
God bless you! How is that? I have gotten cussed (on line, I am too big and ugly in person) for saying that! Usually I check out the persons profile before I get the least bit personal. I will say too, even though I am an ordained minister, I can not tolerate ANY of the TV extortionists that use guilt fear of going to hell or even calling for money every five min. Camp meeting is one of the programs. I called them and asked if the preacher would send me 5000 bucks. He promised that If I would send him that much it would grow to ten thousand or more! So I told the woman that he would soon be rich by sending money back and forth! Nah she didn't send me any cash.
I see the truth angers you and provokes you into calling people nasty names. Here, have some more truth... Manning is a serious nutjob. Just listen to his words. He also created his own "People's Court" which charged Obama with a various things, and surprisingly enough found him guilty. Also not surprisingly, everyone has ignored his court, and mostly ignore Manning. But he does like to video tape himself.
Pastor Manning is an excellent priest who speaks the Truth, probably I will sometimes visit his Church, God bless him!
Even there are racial overtones* evident in your comments, you have got my curiosity up. I am a Rev as well and like to know who is up and coming in my world so I and my church can support them. That said I do not do vids, they take too much time ie running time, and the cred. of vids are too difficult to validate. However I will definitely read some of his material and of his peers. * By racial overtones I mean belittling the black race etc. Rev A
If you consider it "belittling" he's only doing so to wake them up and fix them. There is not a shadow of doubt in any sane, unbrainwashed, racially aware person's mind that the black race is broken and in desperate need of fixing. Funnily enough, this pastor is the only one looking to do that in a realistic and productive way. You can't tip toe around issues so serious. However, he is wasting his time, unfortunately. Blacks don't want to be fixed. Most of them are happy being destructive and bitter. Despite that, Pastor Manning is a greater man that 20 Martin Luther King's.
