I was born and raised in Colorado. I was a Bronco fan before the Super Bowl existed. Peyton Manning was always the QB that Bronco fans loved to hate. I was always an Elway fan when he played, but when he brought in Manning, that was the end of me being a Bronco fan. Now I watch just to see when Manning finally gets smudged in the turf. It happens to them all eventually, just like a boxer when he doesn't except that his time is up. I've never liked Manning and never will.
Because I am a dick, I am going to bump this thread once more. Peyton Manning is set to win another MVP award, after playing like the superstar hall of fame QB that he is. Tim Tebow couldn't even beat out Mark Sanchez for playing time. I think Denver did pretty well in this whole exchange. If they wind up making a super bowl run, it will be one of the great moves in NFL history!!
there is no comparison between Manning and Tebow. But, I would still like to see Tebow given an honest shot on a team vs having a dickhead like Elway intimating that he hoped Tebow would fail.
I don't hope Tebow will fail, I just know that he will, because he lacks the required skill set to be a high level NFL QB.
He'll never be a Brady or Manning. But, he should go to Jacksonville where he would put butts in the seat, sell merchandise, and if they built around him, they could be an 8-9 win team each year and be competitive. Let him have a few years and energize that area to being an NFL area. Heck, how is the ever so talented Tony Romo doing ?
Peyton Manning is a devout Christian who attends a Presbyterian church. It is reported that he regularly prays before each game.
Yep. RG3 happens to be quite devout as well. Then again Tom Brady is not religious at all. It is almost as if religiosity is entirely irrelevant to your ability to succeed at sports, and that talent and drive is much more important. Weird I know, but the evidence clearly suggests that is the case.
Brady was raised as an Irish Catholic. He may not practice the faith today, but he was certainly influenced by Christian values in his formative years. Of course the areligious do produce great athletes... Tiger Woods and Lance Armstrong....for example. One an adulturer the other a cheater...great track record indeed.
This looks like a fun game, posting good or bad athletes and their religious beliefs. Pat Tillman, American hero - athiest Evander Holyfield - Christian, who has at least nine kids out of wedlock and gets sued because he doesn't want to pay a dime to take care of them. Your turn
I don't recall Holyfield being a devout Christian, at least not professed...besides he never was getting stripped of his titles...and banned from boxing...however let's say take Tiger Woods off the board since his character is awful, but so are some "alleged" Christians. Lance Armstrong...the poster boy for atheism. Cheated his way to fame fortune and 7 Tour de France victories... Disgraced, and banned for life for cycling, even his own non-profit cut off their association with him. Regarding Tillman, about 22 % of the military claim "no religion/secular", 77% are Christian of various faiths, and about 1% is made up of other ... Why should Tillman be singled for heroism? He served honorably yes, but he was shot in a fratricide incident...essentially doing his job, out oun a patrol looking for bad guys. The incident itself wasn't particularly heroic. A good guy mistook him for a bad guy and opened up with a .50 cal. The military tried to make a "poster boy" out of him and lied to the public, but that's another story...the fact is the circumstances of his death were not particulary valorous..they were tragic. Over 6,600 other troops have been killed in combat related incidents...of whom, if statistics are to be extrapolated... 3 in 4 were not atheist. The fact Tillman played pro football shouldn't place his sacrifice above anyone elses...and statistically 3 in 4 of those putting themselves in harms way to support and defend the Constitution...are religious, or more specifically...Christian. Are there bad Christians? of course. Are there good Atheists? of course. But statistically you'll find professed and devout Christians, playing the game fairly, and placing others above themselves... You'll find most atheists quivering on the sidelines, contemplating how to cheat the system... before you'd see them put themselves in any sort of danger... It's just their way.
