Please help me understand why some people are refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Do shots make you queasy? Or something? Because that chart over at the New York Times says that we've passed the peak of the number of vaccinations taken. We've still only got 47% of the population vaccinated and demand for vaccines has dropped.

There are over 5,000 new cases just on July 5, 2021, and many states aren't even reporting!

I prefer to be a control subject instead of a test subject during phase three of human trails for an experimental treatment never before used on human subjects.

Well, that is indeed a concern.

Because lots of people would rather die than do anything that Biden wants them to. That's the real reason, you know it, I know it and all god's children agree.

IMO the hospitals should start refusing treatment to anyone who got their case after vaccines became available in their area. Since a very substantial portion of present cases are like that we could clear the hospitals for people who really need them and aren't candidates for a Darwin Award. I wish them luck but people who won't avail themselves of lifesaving services readily available because the man pushing it beat their Bronze God shouldn't get any help from we sane people

Got to be the dumbest post of the day. It takes a complete break from reality to believe that.

For people who are more concerned about dangers that are vanishingly small and probably were never there anyway vs the near certainty of agonizing disease and very probably death, I guess so

Sure, tell me you're really more concerned about vaccine trials, I believe you.

As I say, you should be happy to get no treatment. You won't get the disease and it's not that bad anyway.

I think a lot of hesitancy comes from the fact a large percentage of things we were told about the pandemic/mitigations/etc. were blatant disinformation. Critical thinkers at some point become wary of information from known sources of disinformation. I started warning of the negative effects dishonesty would have on vaccine acceptance back in August 2020. I also warned of the consequences of resorting to ad hominem attacks on people who have legitimate reason to mistrust known purveyors of disinformation. Every time an individual who caught on to one of these lies (PCR testing is key to preventing infections, homemade masks are just as good as N95’s, vaccines don’t prevent infection—they only lessen severity of disease, etc., etc.) and is skeptical of being lied to again is called stupid, or a Darwin Award recipient, or a science denier, you have pretty much ensured that individual will not be vaccinated.

Really? You think it's a good idea to do that? Should hospitals turn away heart attack patients if they ever ate a Quarter Pounder? Turn away diabetics that eat the wrong foods? Lung cancer patients that smoke? Don't sew somebody's fingers back on because they lit fireworks on July 4th?

Spoiler alert - EVERY person on the planet shows up to a hospital for doing stupid stuff.

Either they did something they shouldn't have or they didn't do something they should have.

Good post... with the exception of hospital maternity wards... and even then sometimes stupidity plays a part. :)

Hospital maternity wards are just money makers. Pregnancy is NOT an illness or sickness. Healthy women with healthy fetuses don't need medical intervention.

But, will concede the events leading up go some pregnancies are ripe with stupidity. ;-)

The vaccine potentially has long term adverse side effects that cannot yet be known (it also may not, of course, but we just don't know because its so new). Other vaccines in the past have caused reactions that resulted in permanent debilitating conditions that, while rare, were far worse than the average covid infection. Many people, like me, put more faith in their own immune system to fight off covid than they do in the pharmaceutical industry (which, its worth noting, has more incentive to make people sick than it does to make them well, as long as they can hide it). Had covid turned out to be as deadly as ebola or something, vaccination rates would be higher. But covid is not very deadly for the average person with an adequate immume system, and covid is much more of a 'known quantity' than the vaccines. The simple truth is that unless you're elderly, have a compromised immune system or other pre-existing conditions, covid isn't much of a threat. The vaccine isn't either, statistically speaking, but while someone with a strong immune system can expect to fully recover from covid, no one really knows what causes some of the adverse reactions to the vaccine. They seem to happen randomly: to the old, the young, the sick and the healthy alike. Bottom line is its easier to predict your likelihood of becoming one of the statistical anomolies of covid than it is to predict your liklihood of becoming one of the statistical anomolies of the vaccine. It appears most people have had enough time to decide which is the greater risk for them.

It is very simple - we are divided nation. If leaders of the left say "A", the leaders of the right will say "B" and vice-versa.
The left supports vaccination, so the right opposes. The right supports the wall, the left oppose it. The left supports green policy, so the right opposes.
Once I saw a man arguing how dangerous vaccine can be, very logical arguments, the only illogical thing was his behavior, he was smoking a cigarette.

Why don't people get flu-shots too.....BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO! So take the damned shot, paste a gold star on your forehead, and strut around like a peacock on steroids, but stop whining about those who for WHATEVER reasons CHOOSE not to. After all, if you're vaxxed you're gonna live forever, right?

I don't understand, The vaccine is really worse for us than COVID, right? So why are you worried about getting treatment for COVID if you don't get the vaccine? I'm backing you up, aren't I?

I'm not taking the shot because my immune system is strong, the virus has a 99% survival rate, I don't take flu shots, this has been a huge Scamdemic, the shots do not confer immunity, the shots are dangerous. There are probably more reasons, but I just can't think of them at the moment.

Please re-read what you wrote and think real hard. Also, Covid isn't even close to a death sentence and the super majority who contract it, have mild symptoms and no long term effect. Given facts, why would we implement your draconian idea?

An unapproved experimental treatment never before used on humans. You left that out. I will let you be the test subject.
