There have been a number of 'what are your political affiliation' polls here, and the always suffer from the 'too simplistic', 'doesn't work for me' or 'not correct options' syndrome, so I thought I'd try it a different way. There was also, at one time, a 'Political Compass' results thread, but without a poll to give an overview, so I thought I'd try combining the two things. This isn't about what you feel your politics or affiliation to be, but specifically about what the Political Compass site gives you as a test result. This is how the thread/poll works: A. Take the test at Political Compass: http://www.politicalcompass.org/ B. Note your results on their chart (image below), and see where it says you are, according to the following options (going clockwise around the chart): 1. Fairly Central - within 2 little squares of the centre point in any direction. 2. Mostly 'Authoritarian' - within 2 little squares of the 'Authoritarian' line. 3. Authoritarian/Right - in the top right box, more than 2 little squares away from either line. 4. Mostly 'Right' - within 2 little squares of the 'Right' line. 5. Libertarian/Right - in the bottom right box, more than 2 little squares away from either line. 6. Mostly 'Libertarian' - within 2 little squares of the 'Libertarian' line. 7. Libertarian/Left - in the bottom left box, more than 2 little squares away from either line. 8. Mostly 'Left' - within 2 little squares of the 'Left' line. 9. Authoritarian/Left - in the top left box, more than 2 little squares away from either line. This isn't intended as a perfect poll or a perfect picture of the political landscape of the forum, but just a rough guide as a bit of fun. There may be flaws in the way Political Compass works, and it may not give the results you expect/want/believe. If so, obviously you can post as much on the thread. The idea, though, is just to take the usual discussions about poll option perfection and definitions away, and see what this particular test says about people on the forum (the poll is anonymous)
My political affiliation is far conservative/right, maybe libertarian/right, but never authoritarian, I prefer Conservative Freedom without Dictators.
I don't put much faith in them as they often reflect the intended outcome of the one who originated the test.
Your political compass Economic Left/Right: 1.25 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.00 No surprise there... although I agree with Chuz Life about some of the the questions. Feel like I was just interviewed by a hippie.
I knew one of the first people to create these tests in another forum. He was hell bent on convincing everyone he could that they were actually (despite what they thought they were) "Libertarians." No matter how many ways you varied your answers,... You almost always came out looking like you should be voting libertarian. So, I've been suspicious of all these kinds of tests, since.
Too many non-questions like "An eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth?" -- agree or disagree doesn't work without knowing circumstances. I had no prob with my results, though. I was born just of right of center and have been that way all my life.
Well, I took the test.... I forgot my numbers.... Economic Left/Right: 1.25 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 3.28 PHFFFT I feel violated !!!!!!
Once the Socialists/Communists/Anarchists take the test you won't be, but yes you're welcome to purchase your Che Guevara shirt now.
