From the sound of it, you do not understand what the political situation in the United States is like. There recently was a legal case where some Christian wedding photographers said they did not want to photograph a gay wedding because it would violate their rights to freedom of religion and freedom of artistic expression (free speech). A court ruling forced them to photograph said wedding despite these protestations.

So, there is indeed an issue of acceptance vs. rejection going on. Even without this case, there are plenty of instances where one might have a choice between accepting or rejecting their own involvement with homosexuals, atheists, etc.

Perhaps you feel that it "doesn't count" as acceptance or rejection so long as gays and atheists continue to exist. I just have a feeling that this is where you are going with this. If this is what you are suggesting, all I can say is that it would be an excellent example of poor semantics.

If you would use the reality for your thoughts and not only a kind of short-circuiting fantasy then this could change. Why do you "think" for example the war in Iraq was caused only a litte from the christian religion? The doctrine of the US-government in those days "a preemptive strike is a form of self-defense and this allows to do war" was rejected as an absurde idea from nearly all big christian confessions on this planet worldwide.

One moment please. I don't undestand this. Do you like to say a photographer was forced from the state in the USA to photograph someone or something he did not like to photograph on her/his own?

Got it. The USA forced indeed someone to photograph something she did not like to photograph. Strange. Marriage is by the way in a christian view not possible between man and man. What the new political states are selling under the word "marriage" is comparable as if someone would sell batteries with two plus-poles or two minus-poles and if someone would ask "How to get energy from such a strange battery?" he would be liked to sent to hell from such politicians. The equality of all human beings in a spiritual way of view on human beings makes not a man to a woman, so he's able to marry another man. Marriage means to accept not only different genders but also to accept the natural laws behind this different genders. "Gay marriage" (or a square circle) is a pi-bill - a law where human beings are not satisfied with the laws of nature and try to change natural laws. To compare such a pi-bill with racism is also more than only strange. And if someone lives in the fear she would destroy something in the world or her own mind if she has to make pictures from a gay wedding, then I don't see any reason why the politics forces someone to do so. That's crazy - and shows in my view the growing slave-holder-mentality in the western world. This slave-holder-mentality became a serios thread for our freedom and our democracies.

The word "thread" in the last line above is wrong. I thought "threat". Normally the spelling of words is not important - but in this case there are in the german language two completly different backgrounds. I think the growing slave-holder-mentality is not only a threat for our freedom and our democracies - I think the growing slaveholder-mentality is even a danger for the survival of all mankind. I fear more and more we become like drug addicts victims of our own laws and their interpretors.

Why would a gay couple want an anti-gay marriage photographer? Why would a photographer want to give up a paying gig?

Do you have a link to this case?

But hey, people are nuts. I just feel sorry for the judge who had to sort this out.

This was an opinion piece that made the same argument Rand Paul made that restaurant owners should be allowed to refuse service to blacks. You laughed at a previous poster making that case. You should be laughing at this opinion piece just as hard.

Where do you see the common element between homosexuals and blacks? What's racism in context "gay marriage"? In Germany for example homosexuals belong since decades to a wealthy group of people with high influence in the society - and also in times no one spoke about such ideas like "gay marriage" it was in this way.

This is a very good analogy, thank you for that :)

I do very much agree with you.

I will respond to other posters later since it is late where I am right now.

No matter what this guy says he still thinks he speaks directly to god and god speaks directly back to him so he is mentally ill and should be institutionalized. As all popes should be.

    I too like this Pope.

" “The faith passes, so to speak, through a distiller and becomes ideology. And ideology does not beckon [people]. In ideologies there is not Jesus: in his tenderness, his love, his meekness. And ideologies are rigid, always. Of every sign: rigid. And when a Christian becomes a disciple of the ideology, he has lost the faith: he is no longer a disciple of Jesus, he is a disciple of this attitude of thought"

    http://en.radiovaticana.va/news/201...t_mass_calls_for_greater_openness_/in2-738150

Ideology seems to be in stark contrast to faith. To me ideology is more cerebral whereas Faith is a belief in and reliance upon God.

What does financial status have to do with the discussion? Do you think discrimination is ok as long as those that are abused are making a good living? What point do you think you're making?

Why would a Negro want to get on a bus with an anti-black driver, eat at a restaurant with an anti black owner, or, here it is... live as a free and equal citizen in a country that was anti black?

Why would a white person give up the money he could make by cutting a black man's hair or
    serving him breakfast?

Should such people be given official legal protection, to treat other people as dirt?

I cant imagine a judge would have too much trouble with sorting that case out with the gay couple.
    Simple clear principles are involved.

It was VERY simple, and the photographer lost.
    Rand Paul supporters take notice.

The pope and entourage, in their costumes and doing their ceremonies as if they meant anything, it makes me think of overgrown kids playing star wars. When are they going to notice that, and, feeling suitable embarrassment, slink home?

A lot. A group of people of a society is not discriminated if the people of this group are in average more wealthy than all others.

What do you call abuse in this context? Not to be able to marry?

No idea what to answer on such a "question".
