    5. TROLLING OR DERAILING A DISCUSSION

If you don't want to discuss the topic, stay out of the thread. Posts that are, in the judgment of moderators or administrators, intended to disrupt a discussion rather than actually contribute to it will be considered trolling.

Yeah, they're heavy guns. I've had several Super Blackhawks in .45 Long Colt and 44 Mag., I liked them, but they're big.

I liked mine as well. Heavy is relative to the task.
I have had a Blackhawk in .44 mag and an early customized Redhawk. Both were built like tanks and both accurate backup field guns, the Redhawk carried cross chest fishing on streams in the AK. I did hot reloads for both and never worried on shooting them. Both put meat on the table.
But then, I also never carried either for CC.

Yes, that's what the Blackhawks and Redhawks are good for. They're what I think of as working guns.

my plan is to increase freedom.

now since you are on record in wanting to infringe on the rights of honest gun owners-the floor is yours to prove your intended infringements actually and demonstrably will decrease crime

You plan will result in increased deaths.

How is that better for america in any way?

In other words, based on your reply, you do not have any evidence to back up your false claim.

    Very typical.

In the late 70’s I was into what I thought was power at the time, going through a few pistols. I got a Blackhawk which I liked. I took one deer, with a hot reload, shot between 25-35 yards, but passed on many deer at longer ranges because I didn’t have confidence in my or the cartridge’s ability to a make clean kill. I traded it with a small amount of cash for the Redhawk, figuring it a better choice as an AK gun as I was starting to do work there. At the time I was thinking hotter loads and double action for big fur defense. However, the hot loads with heavy hard cast bullets had the kind of recoiled that impedes fast followup shots... still. In the 80’s my friend took it to a Smith in Anchorage that made a precursor to what would now be called an Alaskan cutting the barrel to 3 1/2 inches and having it ported. Matched with better recoil absorbing grips and a custom cross chest holster the weight was improved, The access improved, but the recoil didn’t given the shorter barrel with the reloads I was using. Still, it was better than nothing I thought.
We used to initially carry 12ga walking to the stream, pistol as backup, and just the pistol on the stream. Then one day I was charged while on the stream, it seemed an eternity to for me to react and draw my Ruger. Fortunately, the donation of my catch and probably Providence of some sort intervened and the bear left, leaving me well puckered, thinking of being bear scat, and on seeing the size and speed of the train, left my confidence of being able to stop it with the Redhawk draining down stream with my pi$$.
These days when fishing the same river, I carry a newer, Redhawk Alaskan in .460 with heavy DoubleTap penetrator loads, cross chest when on the stream, but should I be rushed again, I’d first reach for the bear spray I keep at hand first; I have more confidence with it than the Ruger. Stats have shown higher success death and injury survival rates with pepper spray over any pistol of any size.
I do have an acquaintance down in Fairbanks that has a custom 2” snubbie Alaskan he carries daily. Pretty. But, it’s not for me.
I see an lot of folks coming up from the lower states carrying big bore hand guns where many haven’t practiced with them. I sometimes laugh have joked, at least what they are carrying is heavier than a rock.
Then, there are the moose in some areas...

Here in CO we don't have those big bruins to worry about, so my woods gun is a .357 Ruger SP101 loaded with hard cast 180 gr. I practice with it, but after five shots it's really no fun to shoot anymore. Since that's all the shots I'd get, and I carry spray, too, I hope that if I every have to use it there will be a happy ending.
