I fish frequently in areas populated by black bear, perhaps cats (never seen one) in the lower states. For that, these days I carry a HK45 with either .450 SMC 275gr or 45 super FMJ from Double Tap. Fortunately, I have never had to defend my self from any 4 legged critter while on a fishing trek (I have cycling...diff story, different gun).

 

Smart all the way around.

 

I have thought about making the switch to Glock 10mm of some variety.

 

I'm not a hunter, would please explain what the term "big fur defense" means?
