18 U.S. Code § 2383 - Rebellion or insurrection
Whoever incites, sets on foot, assists, or engages in any rebellion or insurrection against the authority of the United States or the laws thereof, or gives aid or comfort thereto, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.


18 U.S. Code § 2384 - Seditious conspiracy
If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.

Not quite the same but close.

 

It was a hyperbolic charge, and as far as I know sentencing hadn't happened yet I wouldn't be surprised if it were downplayed. The only reason they called it that was for political purposes, an activist DOJ but it's okay because it's acting for the "right guy" now.

 

Would that include
Taking over the city of Seattle by and armed force
Burning down police departments
Burning down federal buildings
Beating on the doors of the SCOTUS to stop the swearing in of a justice
Attacking Capital police at the White House

Does it also include
On Oct. 14, 2021, climate activists breached the Interior Department, with demonstrators who were left outside attacking law enforcement officers as they reportedly tried to force their way in, shouting “Go inside! Go inside!” while activists vandalized the building, while others pinned police against a wall.

Does it also include
On June 2020, then President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, and their son Barron were rushed to a secure bunker when a group of protesters breached temporary barricades that had been set up around the White House complex.

Does it also include
The federal courthouse in Portland has been a repeated target of violent Antifa rioters. On July 2020, a mob began setting fires inside the fence protecting the courthouse, shaking the fence, launching projectiles over it, and even trying to take it down. Several people even breached it, with rioters launching projectiles and flashing lasers at the federal police officers who responded.

 

Did you read the article, it appears, these charges only address the Proud Boys involvement in the January 6th 2021 attack on OUR Capitol. Stand back and standby.

As you can see, they are still lying unabated about it to this day. Heck, Biden came out just last week and said once again that the Jan 6th protesters killed officers. They lie so much that they actually believe their own lies now and then continue to compound those lies with more.

It's sickening watching this play out as the Left continues to condone the acts of the summer of love that killed over 30 people and destroyed thousands of live and over 2 billion in damage, yet cry insurrection over a 3 hour protest that didn't escalate until the fed's initiate a response and capital police started throwing flash bangs into the crowd.

Democrat politicians don't believe their lies. They simply tell them because Democrat voters WANT to believe the lies. Democrat voters need to believe that folks who want small govt are evil and need to be punished. The DNC media and Democrat politicians prey upon Democrat voters.

In a way, you could feel sorry for Democrat voters. They are not even aware at how much damage was caused from their Democrat votes

That the insurrection at OUR Capitol failed, doesn't mean it wasn't attempted or that it wasn't a danger to the continued existence of Government BY THE PEOPLE.

 

Since it was irrelevant to the OP, not really, no.

 

The cool thing about 2384 is that if you and I conspire to steal a roll of toilet paper from at outhouse at a national park we can be charged and convicted under that statute.

 

It doesn't include any of that stuff because Democrats LIKE that kind of thing when it's their people doing it.

 

That would be highly unlikely.

 

I think you'd find, if you liked into it, that progressives are against all forms of violence.
