Aside fact that overrating of its own strength + underestimating the other is the first step on way to lose any conflict ...
Aside fact that financial strength of USA is not given to go into any major conflict if not being directly attacked or having a "new 9/11 issue" ...

The political will to go into a full war for and about Syria is in Washington not given ... not at Obama administration, not at any of the other political powers, including the several candidates to become next president.
More important, there is no backing of any full war for Syria in the US population existing to make more as Air Strikes, maybe some Special Ops too, but that's it.
To say it crystal clear, if there is any decision necessary to sent out the troops to ME for Syrian war like in 2003 or 1990 for Iraq, there will be a fat "No" for it ... and the US never won any war with their Air Power alone.

The Bush administration killed any such willing with their silly war in 2003 and this endless losses after due to own incompetence and here we are not talking for a 3rd class enemy = Assad Forces only which will then be the enemy here! The US will have to go into war with Iran and more important, with Russia too and this is too risky for clear majority!
So if it becomes more hot in this direction, the opinion of majority will be "hell on Syria, give it the Ivan's and let us stay out of Dodge City!"

I have absolutely no animosity toward Russian's and have many Russian friends.

The best thing that could happen for Russia is for Russia and the U.S. along with Canada to form a PARTNERSHIP.

Russia has a lot of natural resources but so does North America and besides some Vodka and Caviar....there is NOTHING Russia has that the U.S. and Canada need thus Russia can trust us to help it develop Siberia.

We have no intention of sending in any ground forces beyond SOCOM Special Forces, CIA Teams and Special Teams into Syria.

And war is changing.

We will no longer need Middle Eastern Oil thus holding land is not something we need to do anymore.

But if necessary we can fly in B-2's and F-22's and drop Non-Nuclear EMP's and completely render entire cities and mechanized forces inert.

Actually Russian foreign debt is low, before Europe imposed sanctions on Russia, Russian central bank had enough reserves in rubles to operate Russian government and entitlements for a year.

Soviet debt was MASSIVE!!!

The U.S. forced all Soviet debt holders to forgive that debt so that the Russian economy could start fresh.

We also paid out over $300 Billion as we bought and destroyed all old Soviet Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Weapons existing in former Soviet states including Russia and WE ARE THERE RIGHT NOW as we are still cleaning up and destroying Biological Weapons and Labs.
