'Recall Ron DeSantis' Petition Hits 35,000 Target as Delta Variant Devastates Florida
    https://www.newsweek.com/recall-ron-desantis-petition-hits-35000-target-1619495

A petition to recall and remove Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has reached its target of 35,000 signatures, with coronavirus cases continuing to climb in the Sunshine State.

The petition, which was started by Cameron White, criticizes the Republican governor's stance towards COVID-19, as well DeSantis making it difficult to file for unemployment benefits.

"Governor Ron DeSantis and former governor Rick Scott have made filing for unemployment in Florida impossible. They care more about showing low unemployment numbers than they do if Floridians have enough to eat," the petition reads.

I don’t believe there is any way to legally recall a Florida governor.

They would have to impeach him and the last time repubs held one of their own accountable was… well… never.
Especially not one they think can be their new kingmaker.

There was legislation introduced: “HJR 785 (2011) — Recall of Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Member of the Cabinet, or Legislator”

    Guess which party blocked it.

I'm not usually psychic but I'll throw that dart in the dark. Does it start with the letter "R" and end with the letter "N"? ;-)

Of course freedom would be considered a failure for the left.

Freedom would be for the people to insist on a recall. Republicans blocked that

I'm not a professional survey analyst but I would take a best guess and say that being allowed to wear or not wear a mask IS FREEDOM. Being told one CAN'T wear a mask is NOT FREEDOM.

And, given either of those options and NO crystal ball if your kid is going to get sick and die at school, I'd venture a hefty sum that MOST parents would choose to defy Dictator DeSantis' demands and financial abuse threats.

I was thinking about this the other day because they lambasted Cheney and Romney but claim to be the party of freedom. How in the world is it "freedom" if you get the guillotine for daring to speak your mind against the great and mighty Orange Jesus? That's everything EXCEPT FREEDOM. And, I still can't figure out the blind eye toward rapists, sexual harassers and human trafficking. If anybody is a female, or has a wife or sister or daughter and they are cool with that...Wow.

LOL, no one is dictating you can’t wear a mask. The decision is given to the parents instead of the state. The left wants to dictate you have to wear a mask.

Prove any of it's false. I can save you some trouble. You can't.

    ETA: I'm excluding the guillotine.

    No one asked me to.

This is more about sending him a message than actually getting him out of office.

Parents don't have a choice. They have to send their kids to schools knowing many students will not be wearing masks. Masks are useful only if everyone wears them. I suppose their choice would be to hold the kid out of school for a year, but that is a crappy choice.

Would you if they had asked?

I can't believe what's happening down there. DeSantis must surely trust that Trump won't ditch him. I don't know why anybody would think he has their back given the long history of him doing the opposite but it looks like he's going all in.

Why did Republicans block the ability to recall the governor? How is that pro-“freedom”?

Yes, I would have signed. He is making a mistake fighting with teachers and putting kids at risk. What is he thinking?

Who is accountable for the safety of the kids? The schools are, but the governor is tying their hands by making it illegal to enforce safety measures. Is DeSantis declaring he will assume responsibility if school kids start dying (which they will)? No, he is not, he will shift blame on anyone but himself.
