If Trump acts immediately and declares a national emergency, closes the borders and starts contact tracing people who entered the US in the previous 120 days, you had the manpower and resources to do that and it would have taken 4-6 weeks.

He was indecisive and then passed the buck to Docktor Falsi.

Shutting down travel from many places does not stop a pandemic. That's like only punching 5 holes in the bottom of your boat instead of 7 holes. Your boat still sinks.

Not only is Trump weak and indecisive, he is emotionally insecure.

Who cares what Democrats say? So what if Democrats rush to court or pass laws to open the borders back up?

All Trump would have to do is point at the death toll: "They killed you in the name of Political Correctness."

You and Trump and Docktor Falsi must have been drinking out of the same cup.

The only way to stop a pandemic is to close the borders. That is the quickest, cheapest, least costly and most effective way to stop a pandemic.

If Trump doesn't understand that, he doesn't deserve to sit in the Oval Office.

The first press conference was January 17. At that time, Trump should have declared a national emergency and closed the borders to all foreigners and the price of admission for Americans is a 3-week quarantine on the tarmac.

Trump orders 100 of the 149 international airports in the US to shut down. All international flights are diverted to the remaining 49 international airports, effectively one in each State.

Trump federalizes National Guard medical, engineer and MP companies in each State and creates ad hoc battalions, since a battalion headquarters company has food service and additional medical support.

They set up GP Medium/Large Tents with cots on the tarmac and that's where Americans returning from abroad quarantine. Foreigners, even those with A-Series (diplomatic) visas are turned away.

Every person, American or not, entering the US by any means fills out an immigration card listing their name, address --whether permanent or temporary-- and phone. You are required to list the States you visited.

All Docktor Falsi has to do is phone, text, email, or get in his chauffeur-driven limo and go to Director USCIS and asks for the immigration records for the last 120 days.

He would have gotten them in txt.files or comma delimited files. Somebody sorts them by State, and emails that data to each State.

The States sort them to remove the duplicates since "arrival" does not equate to "person" because some exit and re-enter the US multiple times during any given month, and then sort by county and email the arrival data to each county board of health.

They counties get the health boards of the villages, towns and cities to do contact tracing.

You're done in 4-6 weeks and you stopped STUPID-19 butt cold. No major job losses. No recession. The death toll is 10s of 1,000s instead of 100s of 1,000s.

If, after 8 weeks, it turns out to be a nothing-burger, then open the borders back up.

What is so damn hard about that?

It's way easier to re-open your borders than it is to re-start your economy.

Trump caused the loss of 25,741,000 jobs which caused a major recession.

He owns that. That's the Trump Recession, because he was a thin-skinned mealy-mouthed snot-nosed turd.

You're still 5,471,000 jobs short and it might be a while before you recover all of them.

If people whine about closing the borders, then Trump should have exhibited some leadership and explained it to people in a way that everybody can easily understand.

Trump just has to get on TV and say, look, There's a hole in the roof of your home. Water is pouring in short-circuiting your TV, sound system, video-games and computer, and ruining your carpet, furniture and walls, and the mold and mildew is a health hazard and it all costs you a lot of money. What should we do? Should we put more holes in the roof so even more water comes in and ruins more things? Or should we seal up the hole in the roof? Closing the borders is like fixing the hole in the roof.

Hell, even the illegal aliens who don't even speak English would have understood that and got the message.

So what if Dummicrats whine? Let them whine.

Let them get a judge in a federal court to open the borders back up.

When the death toll starts mounting and hospitals are over-crowded, Trump just has to say, "Look how they killed you in the name of Political Correctness."

In the 2020 Election, there might have actually been 2 people running as Democrats at the federal, State and local level, because all other Democrats would have jumped ship to the Republicans, became Independents, or jumped to a 3rd Party.

Nobody would want to be associated with the Death Party, which is what everyone would be calling the Dummicrats.

I hope you don't intend to hang your hat on Trump in 2024, because if you, you might as well go stand in front of a mirror and practice saying "President Harris."
