My 3 sisters and I went to parochial schools 1-12. We went from lower to upper middle class during that period. One of my close friends and 15 other siblings went to parochial schools k-12, though their family was quite poor.

They are exceptional educational institutions, in general.

 

It's sad how the mostly-ignorant citizenry can be stampeded into these wild panics by the media. Like, really sad. It's got me feeling glum for our future prospects today. Between this, COVID, silly things like "Russia hacked the power grid", it's a regular occurrence. Too many people are too consistently duped by the media.

The other day, a reporter gave the government spokesman some pushback over the .gov's unsupported claim that Russians were preparing a false flag attack.

Imagine how much stupidity could have been avoided if a reporter had stopped to question the (lack of) evidence about this "mass graves of indigenous children" story when it first came up.

 

I've observed that our politics for the past couple of years seems to be driven from one media induced hysteria to another, with no real stops in between to check our facts or confirm anything. Maybe some people just love to be driven into hysterics. Certianly there were many organizations and people who benefited from this "mass graves" story. But no one with any influence or power seems to have a vested interest in the truth.

I am not sure why this thread was even posted other than to try to misinformation. All residential schools in Canada had students who died of natural causes and so all of them had a grave yard.
